Public_Domain Public_Domain: Thanos Thanos: Public_Domain Public_Domain: I'm not "worked up" but I do love how men get to decide what is and is not worthy of legitimate challenges. The real victims can be seen here on CKA. White men, oh woe is us, the sruggle we go through, with black people demanding our cops stop profiling them to women demanding we stop perving on them, what is left for us white men? Our liberties are being taken from us! Soon we will have no one to keep down, and then it'll be chaos! Sexual assault and birth control options being taken away by religious nuts are causes worth fighting over. A sexy ad campaign that some puritan is angry about isn't. Seriously, some perspective is desperately needed here. But only the male perspective. So the opinion of one grouchy ivory tower academic is the opinion of all women? I'll go to the mat to support women over real issues, like the ones I already mentioned. This nonsense over an ad campaign isn't one of them.

If you want to complain and have big corporation listen, hit their bottom line... stop buying the product and get enough people to do the same. I'm sure a lot of people are complaining while slowing drinking their diet Coke.

Truth is that Capitalism has constantly and steadily evolved over the last couple of hundred years and it is constantly re-invented. It's no longer Capitalist, anyway but a Capitalist-Socialist hybrid since the beginning of WWII. The Empire will not fall (until the oil ruins out for good, anyway).

Public_Domain Public_Domain: My issue with the ads are mainly that it has nothing to do with milk and everything to do with turning men on and influencing women to meet impossibly idealic standards. Not equal to women not getting the right to vote? Okay agreed. Still think the ad is devoid of value, and we tear shit down for less. If this is turning men on, then the problem is with the men, not with the ad. If it's influencing women to meet impossibly idealic standards, then the problem is with the women, not with the ad. Edit: It's time we stop trying to deflect the blame for our shortcomings.

Public_Domain Public_Domain: We aren't in the business of rewiring minds yet, so maybe we can pull back and consider a far less difficult task like simply having Coca Cola advirtise Coca Cola. Like we're going to get rid of all "women's impossibly idealic standards" and "men's sex drive"... good luck with that.

It's an old corporate habit ... selling this with sex. it's so pervasive that the advertising execs don't even have a plan B anymore.

You really haven't explained either what's so awful about the ads and really just expressed your own vague personal dislike for them.

Let people make their own choice, good or bad, instead of trying to remove everything that might influence them into making a bad choice... like booze, cigarettes, drugs, porno, prostitution, fatty foods, fast-food joints and sexist ads.
Are you pro legalization of cannabis, PD?
