I found the sensitive document info

A well-placed source said Mr. Bernier left his “prep material” for last month’s NATO summit in Romania in Ms. Couillard’s home.

The documents were a spokesperson’s briefing book and another document, the contents of which the source would not disclose. But the source said they did not contain any sensitive financial information.

“They were not market sensitive; they were not anything that could move markets,” said the source.

Shortly after the news conference, in an interview broadcast on the Quebec television station TVA, Ms. Couillard said the minister had left a government document at her Laval, Que., home during a routine visit in mid-April.

"And in what Yes, Minister-inspired parallel universe is it routine is it to drop by your ex’s place with a classified briefing book weeks after the meeting for which said book was supposed to prepare you?'

must of been real important stuff... that oughta keep the CBC and the RED STAR buzzing for a couple of days

Bernier suffers final fall of long, public plummet
BRUCE CHEADLE
The Canadian Press

$1:
It was not an auspicious start for measuring Bernier's judgment, and within weeks of the promotion, say insiders, the prime minister's hope had turned to a more prosaic reality.

Question period preparation was a disaster. On file after file, Bernier was rooted to his Commons seat while more adept speakers parried Opposition thrusts.

He was frozen out of major foreign trips - missing an important Commonwealth summit on Pakistan and most recently being benched while Harper took his industry and public safety ministers to a North American summit in New Orleans last month with Presidents Bush and Calderone.

Bernier was perhaps best known for a whirlwind media tour to Afghanistan. His unapproved distribution of boxes of Jos Louis pastries - which are produced in his riding - became a motif of his tenure at Foreign Affairs.

A more recent Afghan journey found Bernier blurting to reporters, in both official languages, that it was time for President Hamid Karzai to replace Kandahar's controversial governor. The diplomatic gaffe resulted in governor Asadullah Khalid holding onto his post, lest Afghans perceive Karzai as a puppet of foreign occupiers.

"He's better distributing Jos Louis. On that he's very good," sniffed Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe after that diplomatic debacle.

Last week in Rome, Bernier announced that Canada would help airlift World Food Program helicopters to the Burmese relief effort using one of Canada's new C-17 cargo planes.

Trouble was, no such aircraft was ready and the Canadian government has had to rent a Russian version - a mistake that is both embarrassing and costly.

For longtime observers of ministerial flameouts, the writing was on the wall. Harper would shuffle Bernier into obscurity during the summer doldrums when few Canadians were paying attention.

Then came Julie Couillard's explosive revelations of misplaced cabinet documents. Bernier's 28-month cabinet ride was over.

A+, Maxime! Better luck with your next girlfriend!

Max is an idiot who stepped on his dick too many times. As important as his riding was to Harper, at some time you have to cut idiots loose and that has finally happened. Better late than never, and good riddance.

Sounds like the secret document was the straw that broke the camel's back for Harper. Political snake that Emereson is, you still can't deny he's a capable guy. The Foreign Affairs file is in better hands now.

I recall some Liberal MP leave a folder of secret doccuments in a French resteraunt years ago also. I don't think he resigned.

It was a dumb move but this was really just a fishing trip. Considering this immigration minister is under protection from biker gangs for not bringing in Romanian strippers like the last Liberal minister, you can wonder who has more ties with the bikers.
Anyone remember strippergate?
Well, being a fair fellow, I would have to see all the relevant materials, including the Romanian strippers, to come to a conclusion here

I think it was the $900,000 gaffe for the C-17 replacement really sank him and this was the excuse to get him out the door. Sad, had he been anything but an empty suit he could have really done something for this country.
