Canadaka Canadaka:
I agree Thanos, that is what he SHOULD do, but Harper has shown no will at all to do any of that the last week. And blew his biggest chance last night. I suspect he will just pour millions into the propiganda machine, tons of ads and such to try and scare people and some MP's from dropping out of the coalition. Yes that is sure a leader, that sure is democracy.
We'll see. But at least for now a separatist party will not be part of a federal government, which should be a major relief to the genuine federalists and nationalists on both the Tory and Liberal sides.
The overall question remains for the coalition side however: if they were so sure that they were (are) doing the correct and legal thing then why were they too scared to take it to the electorate for approval? No silly bitching about having another election so soon, it's a vitally important issue and the voters have the right to make the decision. I wouldn't have, I couldn't have, complained so much if it were merely the Liberals and NDP that could have formed a majority coalition and ousted Harper. The precedent and legality would have been undeniable, and they're both genuine pan-national parties with support across the entire country. But the inclusion of separatists and relying on them for their tacit support makes the coalition illegitimate. Like I asked earlier in the week, if a KKK Party held fifty seats in Parliament would the Liberals and NDP have gone to them and asked for their support? To me allowing the Bloc to become involved in such a critical lynchpin/kingmaker position is simply intolerable.
