When an ideologue says something they should be taken seriously, no matter how extreme or kooky it is. We ought to have learned this by now. Five years ago no one took internet Nazis or incel creeps seriously. Going by the body count they keep building up and by the differences they're making in elections recently though it would seem that deriding them as irrelevant is no longer particularly wise.

One voice on hate-radio or the filthy corners of the internet can't be seen as just one lone crank. That nutcase is probably speaking for endless numbers of others who feel and think exactly the same but don't expose themselves by calling into a talk-show or commenting online. Underestimating their numbers and the influence they have is dangerous. And that applies as much to the cultists surrounding the likes of David Suzuki, who HAS called for climate opponents to be jailed and for Alberta to be kicked out of Canada if we don't co-operate with shutting down the O&G sector, as much as it does to the dickweeds with their swastika flags and home-made armour who assembled in Charlottesville. The lefties probably aren't going to go on killing sprees the way the alt-right chuds occasionally do but they'll still cause as much harm and damage that they can in the name of their ideology if they ever get any real political power.
