Both Christians and Muslims are united in their condemnation and are asking for apologies. Where do you get off telling them it's just a joke and they need to get with the times?
I'm an athiest so I don't have a horse in this race but it's clear that Hollywood believes Christians are free game and their far too cowardly to pick on the Muslims. Your such a big fan.. Has that show ever madefun of Muslims?
Either make fun of everybody or expect to get flack when you take favorites.
For some reason this reeks of that same "Hollywood has the best morals" BS that their trying to push in the Polansky-Pedofile thread.

Gunnair Gunnair: I'm rather curious if all of the baying hounds are devout Christians or whiners just using this non event to piss themselves into a fenzy over the differences of how media/people treat Christ and Mohomad. First, nobody has "pissed themselves into a frenzy" as you stated. Most people condemned the action, and the hypocrisy. You are the one who have been trying to bait people into getting frenzied. Once again, and I'll make this simple. People, like myself, see what happened as an insult. You might not, but that's your choice. I see most of the threads on religion turning into "God sucks and religious people are teh stoooopid" topics. And I'm usually there trying to argue with a rational head. Your subjective views on the event are no better or worse than mine, and even if this is a non-issue, others see this as an affront to their faith, or a sign of greater disrespect by secular groups against Christians, or a sign of the hypocrisy of those same secular groups against one faith over another, because of their lack of respect of one faith over another, due to the more public/dangerous signs of fanaticism by those groups. Those are all issues, and I commented on the first and third issue. Why? Because that's what I believe. If you can't come to accept that I can both be insulted on a personal level, as well as see a political issue, then too bad for you.

Gunnair Gunnair: ridenrain ridenrain: Either there is freedom of opinion on religions or their is not. The fact that the media holds one religion in contempt but is frightened into silence over another is wrong and cowardly. A cowardice that the media dosen't show when their trampling on Christian values. Run for parliament, then. Seeing you whine on forums gets tedious after a while.

Thanos Thanos: I could point out that the whoile thing in the episode was an accident because in the plot Larry had taken a medication that made him piss like a fire hose resulting in the toilet water being splashed everywhere (an occurence which should be familiar to anyone who, say, has actually had more than one beer during their lifetime). At no point in the episode did Larry deliberately piss on the Jesus painting while smirking maliciously, "Ha, ha! Fucking stupid Catholics!" The safe guess is that Larry wrote and acted this episode just as another example of how he lives his "real" life which, for anyone who knows anything at all about Larry David, is that he's George Costanza from "Seinfeld" except his craziness is magnified by about a thousand. The whole schtick of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is, harmless incident occurs, Larry's out-of-this-world neuroses multiply incident and unintended yet thoroughly hilarious consequences burst through the stratosphere.
Those are the facts of the show. The problem here is, besides the involvement of a bloviating hyper-sensitve Catholic supremacist asshole like Bill O'Donohue, is that uninformed and deliberately ignorant people here on CKA, who get their information solely from places like FOX, use this sort of completely irrelevent and harmless moment from a television comedy show to get all hyperventilate-y again. Which I assume, considering that CKA's been tragically morphing in a one-sided and purposely ignorant FOX News junkies fan club sub-site, is what these sorts of people prefer to spend the majority of their time doing anyway. That is, see something silly, blow a gasket over it, and then pick fights about it over the internet.
Get a goddamn life already. It's just a fucking harmless TV show. And if this is what religious people are like most of the time then you deserve to be insulted anyway for being such a ridiculous group of utterly humourless dicks.

I think it's very true that christians and the cdhristian religion are treated differently than other religious groups. I also understand why some christians are offended by that. I think that the important thing here is that christians can also take pride in the fact that letter writing is how they respond when offended, as opposed to riots or lawsuits. I just take it as proof that most christians are rational people with a decent sense of humour. Our goal as a society should be to reach a point where any religion could be the butt of jokes like this, rather than allowing the sensitive humourless people who do the most talking on either end of the political/religious spectrum to dictate what is or isn't a fair target.

A. It was a picture of Jesus(likely one of those stupid Aryan like Christs), which according to Jewish law is a form of idolatry. The picture has no religious value.
B. As for Jesus being a hippy, evidence points out that he was a religious conservative and likely a Pharisee himself.
C. Get over it. The show isn't that great
D. Muslims in Europe also protested the movie, 'The last Temptation of Christ'.

Finally, what happened to turn the other cheek? $1: But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. —Luke 6:27-31. NIV
I didn't see anywhere were it said get pissy over every stupid insult.

Gunnair Gunnair: Finally, what happened to turn the other cheek? It died out about the same time as "live and let live". Both are sorely missed by those who remember them.
