preventive measures 8O next people will say, kicking down someone's door because the police believe they may have drugs in their house........is okay to.....

You're just pissed that the cops are always right in your case.
it truly amazes me how little you understand, and how shortsighted and thickheaded you are.

I have no criminal record, I dont drink or do drugs and the police are never on my case.

but I, am smart enough to see when misconduct is happening. And I am not led by the nose by governments and police forces

you have nothing intelligent to say, so you believe commenting on something stupid makes you look more intelligent.

Nope, I don't try and do anything of the sort. You clearly have some reason for hating cops and most times it's someone who has been on the wrong side more often than not who has a hate on like this. You're just a broken record and we all get that you hate the police and post nothing but that you hate the police. We get it alright so just copy and paste your first anti "the Man" post cause everything you say is the same, put on your tin foil hat and give us all a break.......

How is it a breach of liberty?

Its not just a breach of liberty, it is a specific charter right.

8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

The moment you start to drive erractically for any reason the stop is no longer unreasonable.
And here's where your charter argument falls completely apart. It's not unreasonable search and seizure. Pulling someone over they suspect of driving impaired is part of their job n'est pas?

However, the gov't could make it easier by introducing "whiskey plates". This would make it way easier for police to instantly identify previous offenders and do a cursory spot check. Just to make sure the driver is keeping up their end of the deal.
Then when a whiskey plated driver gets nailed again, they not only lose their vehicle and licence permanently, they also get some nice jail time.

Who decides what is considered 'erratic'? After you've been stopped, are they going to find more evidence of this erratic driving in your trunk, glove box or the backpack in your back seat?

And didn't we already do this topic to death?

If you drive erratically, they can stop you but they can't ask for a breathalizer test. They need more evidences.

Curious, what other liberties are Canadians willing to surrender in exchange for a little transitory safety?

I hope not. Because if you folks adopt it no doubt some clown down here will think it's a good idea.

It's just a few Chiefs in BC plugging for it. It's so obviously outside the Charter that it will never fly. I went to this class on S.8.

Having had my body seriously fucked up by a drunk driver, I'll happily get pulled over every day and 3 times on Sunday! I don't drive drunk and I don't drive around with self-incriminating shit in my car.
Hell, when I had my '71 Mach 1 and Chevelle SS, the cops were always pulling me over to take a peek under the hood. I knew why they wanted a peek under the hood and they knew I knew. I could'a got all self-righteous about it, protesting why they pulled me over but that just got your licence jotted down for further "harrassment"

Oh and one last thing. I've been pulled over by the police more than enough times. I was always clean and legal and they never decided to search my trunk or the rest of my car for that matter.

How about this question. You get stopped at a spot check. The cops shines his flashlight into the backseat area and finds something incriminating. Is that illegal search and siezure?

I'm pretty sure everything in plain view is fair game.

you are willing to give up your rights because someone has convinced you that this is the only way to enforce the laws with the bad guys?
