Yeah I see the Bloc as a party with strong Baby Boomer support. People who can afford to sit at home and philosophize about ideals and values. At the end of the day, that is all fine and good but for the younger generation, prosperity trumps all. If asked whether I would like to live in dire poverty, ruled by people who have identical political views and morals or to be ruled by those with highly contrasting political views but whom leave me with opportunity at every turn, I would choose the later.

Maybe that makes me a bit of a sellout but having my party in power means nothing if I have no power of my own.

Yes, hardliner Francophones will always have a bur up their ass about fear over identity, culture and language issues. But frankly its a normal condition given their a population of 5 or so million

... and shrinking. They don't replace themselves, anymore. Language laws or no ... independent country or no ... they are a dying people.

We escape that fate by welcoming immigrants but Quebecers aren't wild about newcomers and the only acceptable ones come from Francophone countries ... which are both thin on the ground and they tend to be on the scrungy side.

To escape the fate of an aging population we would have to bring in 1 million young people a year.

Now, you know that the idea of separation of Quebec was only the project of a baby boomers generation. According to the polls, the strongest support to the PQ is people over 55 years old. For people below 35, the PQ is second and below 25 it is third or fourth. The youth of Quebec is multicultural and opened to the world. They believe in inclusion, not regressive nationalism.

Quebec is Canada ! Long live Canada ! :-) [B-o] [B-o]

Francophone means French speaking and Anglophone means English speaking. Therefore, Allophone would refer to those who speak.........

For the PQ, the allophones are the "them" while they are the "us".
