It's worked well in the past. The Muslims I know aren't so dogmatic as to believe a book written by people isn't as flawed as those same people. But they can still appreciate the morality, beauty and poetry of the book and how it relates to the way they want to live. Many of the Christians too.

And they aren't getting into shooting wars over the flawed books written by flawed people.

Science is not atheism. If God created this Universe, then Science is the method that many use to read His actual words. And God did not write in the universal constants that Jihad must be declared if you do not believe that a naked neutron decays in 14:39 instead of the unholy 14:48.

Most people, regardless of religion, are able to distinguish facts from dogma. You give them too little credit.
