Edmonton does it the right way and all municipalities should follow their example, by keeping private operators on reserve with a retainer. It's a small price to pay for insurance.

Council adds $6.3M to Edmonton's snow-removal budget

Keeping 135 snowplow operators on retainer will raise property taxes by almost one per cent .

Edmonton has always been a 'winter city' and they just started doing this. And only because city council was facing a serious threat of being thrown out on their fat/lazy asses because the public outcry was becoming clearly more than council's 'job security' could handle. For many years my neighbors and I would shovel our own streets and alleys as the city clearly stated that side streets would only be cleared if/when emergency vehicles could no longer traverse the roadways.

if we could just get the dumb asses in Calgary City Hall to do the same. Our side streets go untouched which is not really a problem. It takes them days just to get to the secondary streets after 15 cm of snow falls. No wonder the F150 is the choice of so many Albertans

Prefer to watch a weatherwoman over here, it's seem more entertaining for some reason.

QC expects up to 25 cm of snow

Although to the city of Montreal, a few cms always seem like a big deal since it takes forever for them to clean up.

That's exactly it Brenda, 25 cm is nothing. But the city of Montreal gets its panties in a bunch over only a few cm of snow. Although it's a more populated area. But the rest of the province is used to it.

Hey now I know where you live. ROTFL

A Ford? Bite your tongue, lol. And the powers that be in silly hall dig into the money vault (or what I like to call the "future raises fund") to clear snow more efficiently? Nice notion but it'll never happen!
