BartSimpson BartSimpson:

All that matters is: Did his choice of behaviour leave him better off or worse off than if he had just left quietly? The answer is worse off, and there was no chance of it ending any other way.

Ergo, he was stupid. Now he's got more problems than just missing his flight. Throwing a pointless temper tantrum and losing all self control to make your situation worse isn't a display of bravery or strength or dignity, it is the exact opposite of those things.

He was asserting his rights. Some of us are willing to die to assert our rights as opposed to kowtowing to a bunch of fucking bastards who deserve to be shot.

Really that airline seat would've been worth dying for???

Also, I think the actions of United and the security were abhorrent, and I hope they pay dearly for it, but I don't see where under the law a customer has "rights" to receive service from a business against the will of that business ( other than civil rights cases, which you are famously against). At most he had a civil case for paid services not rendered.

I suppose now he'll get a big legal settlement for the ass-kicking just to make the issue go away, so I guess that's something although I doubt it was his deliberate strategy.

At this stage of civilization's tumble into near total despair I'd wager at least fifty percent of people today would now happily take a good boot-fucking from some business's hired goons just to cash in later on a legal settlement.

Yeah but all your dirty laundry and closet skeletons come out in public. Like this guy, thanks to the publicity he's attracted, the world now knows he lost his medical license and narrowly avoided a serious prison sentence 15 years ago because he had been writing opioid prescriptions to addicts in exchange for gay sex. He had only just recently got his license back. I wonder if he thinks this has all been worth it.

Another classic "gay cake" case.

A company can offer it's services to whoever they want to... the fact that the person has already paid up and is sitting in the plane shouldn't matter.

Sorry Bart.

This doctor may have been wrongly identified by media. If this is the case, then there is another lawsuit brewing.

Many individuals are reporting that the doctor who was abused was Dr. David Thanh Duc Dao while the man with the sordid past is Dr. David Anh Duy Dao

This story just keeps getting more twisted. If the mix up in names proves to be true there will be a lot of back-pedalling. I thought that the first rule of journalism was always check your facts. Or is that an other dead thing like common sense?

This just in...

Pentagon awards contract to United Airlines to forcibly remove Assad

$1:
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon announced Tuesday it had awarded a sole-source contract to United Airlines for work related to the forcible removal of President Bashar al-Assad from Syria.

The contract, worth $2.1 billion, tasks the airline company with locating Assad, grabbing him from his seat in the presidential palace, and “dragging him out of Damascus by his arms.” The contract also notes that Assad should be “asked several times, politely” to give up his seat of power, though if he refuses, United workers should bloody his nose up a bit, according to the posting at FedBizOpps.

ROTFL

That idea died 25 years ago.

And so, the court game has started... hope he gets a couple million.

United passenger starts legal action against the airline: Doctor asks judge to preserve all video evidence of him being dragged off as two MORE cops are suspended

Dr. Dao's legal team have demanded that United keep video recording and all other evidence of the dragging incident
The passenger hired two Chicago attorneys: a personal injury specialist and a company law specialist
Dao himself is planning to give a press conference on Thursday morning
Two more law enforcement officers involved in the incident have been suspended for a total of three cops who have not been named by the Chicago Police Department
United has refunded the cost of tickets to all passengers on the infamous flight
First statement from Dr Dao was through a lawyer who said his family 'wants the world to know' their thanks for 'outpouring of prayers, concern and support'
United's CEO finally apologized at the third attempt but his company's share price plunged

Apparently United has offered full refunds to all passengers on the plane, trying to
stave off the inevitable class action 'trauma and hurt feelings' lawsuit.
Should be good for another million. :)

Interesting isn't it, that passengers who have disputes with an airline have to go through the civil court system for remedies; but the airlines can call the police even when no crime has been committed? Except, perhaps by the police.

I'm sure the cops were told 'Oh the guy is getting violent on the plane, and refuses to disembark, and the crew is scared,' blah blah.
So the cops go in already prepped.

Just like Vancouver, when the Pole got whacked....

An isn't it also interesting that the victim's criminal record is splashed all over the
news pages hours after an incident, but so many times other stuff gets covered up
because of 'privacy issues' ?

Only they maybe got the criminal record of another guy. Defamation for another $100k I hope.

Just waiting for the final coup de grace....

Looking at the passenger manifest, whoever made the decision speaks.

Women ? No, they will scream.
Blacks ? No, they will really scream.
Ahh, 70 year old Chink, he won't complain, let's boot his ass.

Can't wait for that to come out.

But will we ever know the outcome It will get dragged through the courts and by then it will get a tiny mention or settled out of court with a no disclosure agreement. By then something else will be big and most people will have forgotten even if it's outcome is reported

That's why I applaud news orgs that wait to verify facts, rather than post rumours.

R=UP

70 year old anybody, likely. That he was Asian was cake.

But that'll never come out, unless someone totally disgusted with the incident leaks it.
