I think the fact that some of us just don't care is taken as racist... It's not that I don't think it's tough to be part of the "downtrodden," but (shock) even Anglo-Saxon/Scottish guys like me have difficulties in life... I'd rather make my own way than bother to think about how others are being "hindered." Get over it. Rise above... It's really none of my concern

dino_bobba_renno dino_bobba_renno:
[huh] Why is it only white people are considered racist? Try going over to Rwanda and ask a few Hutu's what they think of the Tutsis and vice versa, is what they believe not considered a form of racism? Personally I find most ethnic groups far more racist towards some group or anouther than the majority of whites.

Well, I see your point, but your example is a poor one. White Belgians, arbitrarily, divided Rwandans in to two "tribes". Before that, Rwandans were just Rwandans. Then the Belgians favoured one of the two groups, creating a smaller, entitled group of Rwandans. So, it was white racism that created that conflict.

the reason I was given was that most were from rich families so they tended to look down on us middle class whiteys. However I was in classes with 2 of them on 9/11 and they started to cheer, said we deserved it. They were very arrogant and always demeaning toward the whites in the classes. It wasn't unusual for an indo canadian to jump in front of you in a line up at a store. I'm sure they aren't all that way but many of them are. I'm sure others here have experienced Vancouvers elite indo canadian community.

A flawed study is the nicest thing I can say about it.

Inaction in no way reflects the thoughts or beliefs of an individual. In our society, standing out is usually the most common level of phobia. Simple shyness completely voids the assumptions of this study.

It’s bullshit.

There studies are based on testing students that when they heard racism diddn't confront it. That makes you a racist all of a sudden?

Has the people who did this research ever confronted a racist before? Simply saying "Hey jackass, that's racist so shut up" doesn't actually make him shut up or stop. It makes him target you and starts more drama. A racist is a racist and simply confronting him isn't going to change his mind.

I don't confront racists anymore because I know there just some ignorant fool who's mind can't be changed who's not worth the drama to get into it. I guess that makes me a racist all of a sudden for not wanting to confront racists.

This whole connection between whites and racism is really getting pathetic, everybody is capable of equal racism and each group has the same number of them.

When Obama was being elected, all you heard about was these black voters saying shit like "I want to vote for Obama because hes black" but never have I heard anybody claim that as racist. If a white person said "I want to vote for McCain because hes white". He would be bitched at for being a racist.

Whites who call out race gets more attention than others. Anybody that wants to call me out as a racist because I happen to be white than fuck them. That's being racist themselves.

Why is it only 'whites' that do these studies? To find out that whites are the only racist people on the planet? Get back to me when blacks, browns, purples, yellows, greens and oranges do the same studies. Might make it more legitimate.

NO NO NO NO!!! I take extreme issue with that statement. My disertation was a study of Female Labour Force Participation. One of the panel that I defended to was a female demographer from the Utah State University. In her peer review of my work she said "While I agree with the author's conclusions, this is a topic of study that ought better to have been undertaken by a female doctoral candidate."

Research is objective or not...the researchers' ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, whatever, has nothing to do with honest research.

you dismissed whites' research on racism, saying you'll wait for research from blacks, browns, etc.. I said "that's bullshit". A person's skin colour or gender doesn't have anything to do with their ability to conduct research.
