I know the ambulance people here. 3 or 4 times a week someone miraculously 'gets better' in transit and wants to be dropped off at the bar.
They have to go through the motions and sign them into the hospital first. Most are gone out the back door by the time the doctor gets to the Emergency ward....

I have a cop scanner so get to hear all the 911 calls as there dispatched to the cops and it gets abused big time.
Mostly it's drivers with road rage who are pissed because someone passed them or was driving slowly(usually the speed limit) so they phone it in.

Then theres the threatening text messages kids send in school,definatly worth a 911 call.

The majority of 911 calls here are false alarms as people put the number on speed dial and accidentally wind up hitting that number.

Ive actually done that before on accident.

My voicemall password is 9211. So one time I thought I was typing in my password but I didnt actually call it. So then it started ringing, I looked and it said "emergency call 911". So I flipped out and hung up...nothing happened though.

When I was four or five years old, we kept getting prank phone calls at the house. My parents didn't seem capable of doing anything about it, but I figured the operator would be able to help us out, and since they weren't going to call her, I would.

There was only one problem: I was five and didn't know the number for the operator... so I called 911 to find out. I still remember the 911 guy's tone of voice when I asked him the question. He was really confused.
