Not to bust your balloon, but what 'west' would this be? You mean Alberta, right? BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have all had provincial NDP governments, not to mention a fair few liberals. And the Republican-lite party actually lost seats in BC this time around. Since when did Alberta all of a sudden start speaking for all of western Canada?

You are correct, I should not have said always. A bit much.
But the west has supported the Right more than the Left and the East has not been pure red down through the ages itself.
Alberta doesnt speak for the west, any more than Ontario speaks for the Maritimes. BC, Alberta, Sask, and Manitoba all have far more Conservative seats than Liberal. I believe the west spoke for itself.
