jeff744 jeff744: Regina Regina: I'm totally pumped about this. Some crappy player accused me of hacking months ago and recorded my play. The guy had no skill at all but cried for hours. Old guys do rule!!! A few people were accusing Canadaka of hacking a while ago too, it was pretty amusing. That happened to me in COD4 a few years ago. I prefer the G3 because of it's accuracy and if you pull the trigger fast enough you get some good speed. Some little 12 year old whiner accused me of using a turbo button on my controller. I had none, as it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to pull the trigger quickly. He said he was going to report me, I said giver.

Okay, I finally got on to BF3. Origin, it seems, was trying to access my index.dat file and could not find it. That's because I renamed it on my computer for security reasons. So I created a plain old text file with some random junk in it and named it 'index.dat'. I also installed FireFox as my default browser on my game machine to defeat some of the IE plugins that come with Origin. Now I'm in. The game is lushly detailed, the game play is frenetic, but there's a few problems: 1. The damned pop-up (or HUD) with in-game messages takes up the right half of my field of vision. Who's the moron who came up with that act of genius? 2. Headshots don't always kill. I'm sorry, WTF? 3. Am I mistaken, but aren't a lot of things like the RHIBs and the carriers just fleshed out clones from BF2? I'll try to get into this, but it's not as much fun at the start as BF2 or BF:BC2 were.

I've been trying to find people who are still playing BFBC 2...I have better luck with CoD MW2. lots of folks still online there.
Edit: i think I'm going to go with MW3 rather than BF3 for now...might get BF3 as a stocking stuffer if I hint enough.

MW3 is a piece of crap, its the same game since COD4/MW1, just an expensive map pack. The user ratings are horrible. 1.4/10 for PC 2.5/10 on Xbox. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/call- ... -warfare-3Its the same crap over and over, same engine, same frantic run and gun COD gameplay, no teamwork. The graphics are only marginally better than the original COD4 from 3+ years ago. BF3 is a far better game than BC2 and ALL of the Call of Duties and I own them all. I loved BC2 i have over 300 hours in it, but BF3 is a more better game, I have over 51 hours logged already. BF3 is super popular with the =CKA= clan we are the busiest we've been in 4 years. No one has problems with Origin like Bart has had and no one is playing BC2 anymore, we cancelled our BC2 servers. I don't have a problem with the chat window since I run at a high resolution. Try running higher res if you can. There are lots of problems like that, but people have short memories, there was so many problems with BF2 and BC2. There still hasn't been a client patch for BF3 that i'm sure will address many of these things. There has been 8 server patches already fixing many issues. The server side has been WAAAAAAAY better than BC2 at launch, much more stable and less bugs. BC2 was horrible for server stability for many months. The CKA BF3 server ran for over 48 hours straight with full population with no crashes or problems.

Done and done. I gotta say I am loving this game. I just wish that the back to karkand map pack was available at launch for pre-orders. I loved strike at karkand and road to jalalabad.

Gotta agree as well. MW3 is just as frustrating to play as MW2 was. It's basically a big patch and a map pack. The maps are weak and the quick scoping is too easy to exploit. BF3 wins this round hands down.

It's great to hear you guys are enjoying the game.... my 2 cents is that I won't give BF3 a chance.
My first experience with the BF series was BF2 and I wasn't really impressed, in fact it annoyed the hell out of me and felt it was too arcadey.
I then picked up BFBC2 over the summer on a Steam Sale. It seemed to shift to a more realistic game play than BF2.... I spent a week bouncing from forum to forum to get the game to work properly on my system and another week with EA Support to get my addons/unlocks added to the game.
After about a month of playing I kind of lost interest and stopped playing.
I quickly felt that the run & gun gameplay from BF2 carried over to BC2, base raping was almost constant from server to server and when you complained, you were told it was a legit tactic and to suck it up.
Why would I want to suck it up? Where's the fun in spawning, getting blown up by two tanks, the enemy heli, your team's heli they hi-jacked and several troops behind you..... killed..... wait in spawn.... spawn..... killed.... repeat.
You don't stand a chance and by the time you figure out where you spawned and which way your facing, you're killed again.
Quit....
The other thing that bugged me was how none of the classes had any of their specific tools/equipment that makes them the class they are and you didn't get them unlocked until a few levels away. It didn't take long to get them, but that's beside the point when you have level 50's with mag rounds and body armour mowing you down and then dropping health packs at their feet to get back to full health.... new players are at a huge disadvantage and the unlocks higher leveled players got made it pretty difficult to enjoy the game, especially when you came in late.
So with all of that and ending up with two Battlefield games that left a bad taste in my mouth, I have no interest in trying a third time.
Now.... I'm not saying BF3 or BF in general is crap, it's just not my style.
BF is still better than Call of Duty, but I do see a number of similarities in both.
^ This is kind of how I feel when playing either game..... I prefer a more tactical game myself.... something where you need to take your time and think about what you're doing.
That's kind of why I'm one of those Red Orchestra guys.... that and the whole modern warfare, US vs. the World games kind of gotten old and dull with me over the last 10 years..... which is why I like Red Orchestra, due to being a bit more realistic, WWII, Germans vs. Soviets, one bullet to the head/chest kills, etc.
For me, BF and CoD have kind of stalled in their innovation.... BF is still better than CoD, but to me, BF3 feels like BC2 but with slightly better graphics and BF2 jets.
Everybody has their preferences.
Enjoy your game folks, that's all that matters.

I was playing MW2 multiplayer the other day when all of a sudden the screen went nuts. Suddenly all of us were elevated to level 70 and had everything unlocked...sort of took all the fun away from the game. I was only lvl 30 because i play infrequently.

I hate HC, hardly anyone plays hardcore, its not true Battlefield. And the video is also of the smallest map with no vehicles.
If you are getting killed when you spawn then don't spawn there! Choose a save place to spawn like your main base or a squad mate that is not under fire.. simple.

Sometimes you do get spawn raped and that happens, you can usually figure your way out of it after being killed once. BF3 has been awesome. I love having the vehicles.

I've been playing BF3 for a while now and getting better at it. The logon issue is resolved and it's working consistently anymore. I also had OC132 installed at the house and my ping for the West coast is now under 40ms and East coast ping is under 50ms - which helps. I miss the granular controls of BF2. The indicators of where everyone is on the map tend to be really bright especially on dark maps and I find it distracting and annoying. I'd rather have the sidemap from BF2 than the neon lights all over my view. It sometimes gets in the way and blocks me from seeing an opponent especially at a long distance. It'd be nice to disable the indicators. The backgrounds are awesome but it is sometimes difficult to find an opponent in the clutter. Of course, I've found that hiding in the clutter and then sniping with the pistol is pretty effective (the basic sniper rifle sucks out loud). The aircraft are relatively easy to fly and this is one thing that EA got right. They're also more fragile and that's more realistic. It used to tweak me to no end to get a direct hit on a chopper from a tank and then not have it go down. They fixed this. Base raping is gone, of course, but it added a certain element of realism, I think, to allow infiltrators into your base to cause mayhem. Its not like it doesn't happen in real life. I'll give this a chance.
