The South Koreans wouldn't have million dollar championships for a MMORPG SC.

Scape Scape:
Dream on, Blizzard are the same guys who own World of Warcraft. You know the one that you have to pay to play monthly? You had to pay for the game as well but they have since made it free and there is talk they will make it entirely free to level 10 so you can at least try the game before you buy. With games like Star wars the old republic coming out that will charge a fee I was amazed they didn't charge for battle.net access for this actually.

The reason Blizzard charges users monthly for World of Warcraft is because the game is a MMO. The money goes to the upkeep and maintainance of there servers which hold thousands of players. Some maybe even a borderline million. This upkeep and maintenance to make sure the server can hold these players and give them all a lag free experience is costly. Therefor every player has to generally pay to play. There are various private servers for WoW that are free, however because they are free they cannot hold as many people and are at time laggy and unstable. Which is bareable as its free, however some people are willing to pay to play with more people and have a more quality experience.

Blizzard makes 100% quality games, however regarding StarCraft 2. It earns low reviews in my book. StarCraft 1 had a perfect game-play balance. StarCraft 2 completely lost that balance, its generally a better graphics, new units and buildings version of the first one with unbalanced gameplay. Which I am sure they will fix eventually. Just not worth the money if you've already played the first one IMO, however I suppose worth the buy if you haven't. The blizzard game I am most looking forward to is Diablo 3.

I had no problem paying a monthly fee for wow when I was playing. I spent more money on pizza a month than the wow fees. Some people complained because they felt that they bought time they felt compelled to play. I had one friend go on and on about it. Until I offered him 15 bucks if he shut up about it for a month.

One thing about wow you can tell the developers are in fact fans of the game themselves, technical difficulties, glitches and game play balances were always quickly addressed. So I had no problems paying the 15 bucks.

I just got tired of the rat race for gear and once you get it all there's isn't much else to do except wait for the next expansion where your gear becomes instantly obsolete and you get to do it all over again.

Mmmm no thanks, I'm done.

Sorry for the hijack.

I don't intend to pick up SC2 either. I have the old one not to concerned about better graphics for 70$

I'm looking forward to Diablo 3 I just hope it isn't a clickfest like the last 2. Nothing promotes carpal tunnel quite like that game.

I am stoaked to pick up SC2 mainly because of the single player. I am in no way shape or form able to compete vs the online players. I hear good things about the new tiered play which has players of similar skill levels find matches. Most online games have become a slaughterfest of newbs vs vets like counterstrike where if you haven't played dedicated for the last decade your the 1st to die.

The thing I always loved about the single player is that blizzard always told a good yarn and the cut scenes were 2nd to none. Multi-play is just gravy.

They spent 10 years making SC what it was. If they need to they will do the same for this one.
