Been a while since I have really been around here. I did have a few days where I felt quite good considering then got hit with Chronic Fatigue again. I have had this on/off since the first surgery. Thought I was over it now. Guess the body is taking a lot of energy to heal. Was able to get into Vegreville with Sis the other day for lunch. Got back home and then slept round the clock again. Frustrating as hell when I think about having all this time on my hands and then waste it all sleeping. Doc just says "Give it time". Asked him when I might be able to return to work & he just shook his head & laughed! " Not until after you see Dr. Miles in June". So if anyone has any ideas at all how I can beat this being tired all the time. I be willing to try almost anything. BTW Thank you all for your support & good wishes. Means a lot to me.

Try listening to your doctor ffs ! Your body does need time to heal, so you need to give it the time. Also, you ain't no spring chicken, so it will take even longer, due to your advanced age Just fucking relax for a change. I worked hard for the chance to slow down and actually smell the roses once in a while.

Listen to the docs. Making things worse by doing stuff and having some really painful scar tissue develop is about the worst thing that can happen. Enjoy yer well deserved break, ol' dawg, and go back when it's safe to do so. If the worst thing that happens is you're bored for a few weeks then you're really lucky.

Thanks Bud, That's the tough part after being so independent all my life. Still and all I'm looking forward to more surgery to get this fixed as good as can be anyway, once & for all. I'm expecting summer to pretty much be a write-off as far as getting any more work done to the house goes, but should be able to get the boat out for some fishing. And at least one fishing/camping trip with Q & Rosie. With luck maybe even a short bike ride with my brothers.

Just realize that all you have to do is take the time to heal as you deserve to. I had my appendix out in 2006. No big deal, had an attack, went to the hospital emergency, they took it out with a microsurgery, and was I home four days later with a big bag of antibiotics and painkillers . I obeyed the doctors like a smart person should, but sometimes if I cough hard enough when I have a cold or turn just a little bit the wrong way I can feel this little bit of scar tissue bite deep down in my pelvis where they inserted a post-surgery drain. I know people in my own family who didn't rest and relax like they were told to do. Did little bits of work around the house after surgery and man they fucking paid for it in spades afterwards. Massive scar tissue developed, bad things like strangulating bowels occurred, and incredible bursts of pain FOR LIFE afterwards as a result. Like I said there's a million other things out there a fuck of a lot worse than being bored for a few weeks while you're healing. Scar tissue agony, all because someone didn't listen to their doctors, is literally one of the worst things that can happen to anyone.

Back from consult/follow-up with surgeon in G.P. Great visit with Rosie & Q. They even bought me dinner. Definitely goin back! Then out for a bit of shopping for more tackle. Got it home this time by 'checking' my bag. Paid $26.25 to get $35 tackle onto the plane! Oh well, I'll submit the expense and see. Follow up from surgery Mar 31 to remove the polypropylene mesh from my left side inguinal hernia & discuss removal of mesh from right side inguinal hernia. Turns out the left side was the 'easy side' to remove. He said it was very involved with the nerves and took 2wice as long to remove as he expected. It was, in his opinion a difficult operation. He was also able to remove most of the scar tissue & do a 'successful natural repair' of the hernia. I did get a lot of relief from the removal. Most noteably the constant pain from my left abdomen down my left groin and leg is gone. Yes I still have that pain periodically as well as the intense pain radiating around my low back, but again it is not 'permanent 24/7'. It comes and goes. In fact tonite I am just getting thru a 4 day bit of pain. It is finally easing off. As a result I am easing off the drugs a bit. Doc is surprised that I got any relief at all from the removal. The mesh was/is a polypropylene which he said was still plyable and not 'cut to fit' Same on the right side. He feels that the right side is just too involved. Too dangerous to attempt removal. He will almost guarantee that I will end up as a parapalegic if removal was attempted. To that end there will be no further surgery in relation to my mesh, but should the newly repaired hernia rupture again he would look at that. The conclusion is that I should "Try to reclaim as much of my life as possible, and control the pain rather than let it control me". This was discussed right from the get-go so today was not a total surprise, just not what I was wanting to hear. Pain management. pain clinic, pain control of some sort for the rest of my life is what I am faced with. No false hope. My GP will be getting a report and reccomendations within the week and we will be setting something up. In the meantime, I am packing a bag, polishing up the Harley, and Friday morning heading out for a ride up thru the Rocky Mountains. Thru Hinton to hook up with one of my Brothers And then on around Jasper, up to Maligne Lake, a few hours in the Miette Hot Springs and maybe a stop along one of the rivers to do some trout fishing. Look out life. Here I come!
