So many responses I won't Quote/post for each one(I don't wanna be the Multiposter!!! :P :D ;) ) So:

1) The structure of the US Military(it being Voluntary) has absolutely nothing to do with Damon's comments. He was merely stating that Politicians in Power Declare War with little personal risk.

2) Congress didn't Declare War against Iraq. What they did was give Bush the option, mainly for bargaining purposes(aka to put pressure on Saddam), to go to War or not.

3) WMD and the threat that those WMDs would end up in Terrorist hands was the reason for War.

4) No WMDs were found. Anyone believing they were are sorely misinformed.

5) Why should Damon join the military? The demand that he should is a ridiculous Red Herring.

6) he didn't put down those who are or have served.

7) yes, I watched the clip and stand by all my comments

Most militaries (except some with mandatory service) are voluntary because the people who sign up for the military expect to be paid, like any other job. If the politicians in "power" declare war with little personal risk, that is a job requirement for the people who sign up for their pay cheque. Damons comments are merely him telling others to serve when he himself has nothing to offer. Hypocritical don't you think? Not to mention two women. Is it even acceptable for women in the U.S. military to be in actual combat?

Why should the Bush twins go to Iraq because of Damons "opinion"? The demand (sorry, opinion) that they should is just as a riduculous red herring.

Why should anybody else go to Iraq? The place is a lost cause and the U.S. is pulling out and no more troops are going in, the least of all the Bush twins or Damon or any other actor.

Are you saying that mustard gas and syrian (sp?) are not WMD's?
you evaded this question once dont try to again.

As his saying that the Bush twins should.

As were many others that I named earlier. Please answer the first question thus either proveing or disporveing the point that the gasses found are either WMD's or not.

So is this a war or not. Matt says it is your saying that its not?

Yet here he is makeing statements with little personal risks.

Does anyone really believe that the American Head of State's daughters will be brave enough to join the Armed Forces in the way that Britain's Head of State's grandsons have done?

One day, King William V could become the first British monarch to lead a British Army into battle since King George II defeated the French at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743.

As for them being brave or not is not the point. Its others running their mouth about them not being in the military ect... when they themselfs are not. Its called being a Hypocrate (sp?) and thats what Matt D. showed his self to be in the interview.

They Royals have a tradition of military service. It has helped defend the entire idea of an unelected head of state and keeping them around for a turn.

However, Charles and Camella may well be the death of the throne. I for one want nothing to do with the throne if that bitch has anything to do with it. The only redeeming feature left may well be the sons of the peoples princess. If it wasn't for the Queen and her dedication to duty 1st above all else the whole idea of a British monarchy may have found its way to the dust bin for the entire commonwealth with the exception of the UK itself.

Hoist the flag of a free Republic of Canada and down with the monarchy! [flag]

Hey GB. I was told once the Prince William said that when he gains the throne he will desolve the monarchy. Is there any truth to that? As in has he said anything along those lines? Supposedly he said this soon after his mothers death.

I do not think any memebers of Parliment have served other than Gord, none of their kids are in either. Can't see too many NDPers joining the Canadian Military even if the country was being overrun invading taliban hoards. Libs can't decide whether or not we should even have a military, but if we do, no bullets.

I am in the military & I have never seen any politicians kid in uniform, most likely never will..

In the modern US Army it is fairly commonplace, with expansion being encourageged by the pentagon.

Prince Harry will be sent to Iraq - girlfriend

Image

Prince Harry will be sent to Iraq in the spring, according to reports quoting his girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Ms Davy, 21, had told friends she was going to travel to take her mind off the Prince's deployment, The Sun newspaper reported.

Accompanied by elder brother Shaun, 24, she will start her adventure by visiting the US casino city of Reno, Nevada, before heading for a spell in Rio de Janeiro, The Sun said.

The Ministry of Defence maintains that a final decision about whether Prince Harry, a second lieutenant, will be allowed to fight in Iraq has yet to be made.

The Prince has always said he is determined see battle with his 100-strong unit, which is part of the Household Cavalry. It begins a six-month tour of Iraq in the spring.

The decision over the young Royal is deemed so important it will be made by the Army's leader, Chief of the General Staff General Sir Richard Dannatt.

Ms Davy is expected to enrol for a post-graduate course at a British university following her travels.
