ASLplease ASLplease:
obviously something has you feeling that way, what is it? my inability to blindly support the monothiestic edifice of modern day science without questioning it first? I thought the scientific method is all about questioning things, so why are you realigious zealots so caulked on the evolution THEORY?

So, you can't answer it, fine. But save us the histrionics.

Isn't it a bit early in the day (and week) to be hitting the sauce?

Getting back to the subject of the thread though, if 4 in 10 Americans think they world is 10,000 years old then 4 in 10 Americans are either fucking retarded or fucking ignorant.

The age of the Earth (actual and lower bounds) can be determined by a number of radiometric techniques. The most well known of which is radiocarbon dating. It can only tell you the age of something that was once alive, and can only go to about 60,000 years ago, but the technique has been used to date important finds to 36,500 years ago, and the calibration curve has been extended to 50,000 years, so already we're five times older than this 10,000 year figure. Link.

Other radiometric dating techniques can be used to determine ages out to billions of years, and have been used to pin the age of the Earth at 4.54 billion years (give or take 50 million). Link.

The Earth is billions of years old, and every radiometric technique we've deveoped says it's older than 10,000.

You just need to look around you - think of how fast geologic processes would have to be for the earth to be that young - you could literally see mountains rise and erode away again. Guess the fundies don't believe in geology either, as well as evolution. Think of how fast the Rockies would have had to rise from that ocean bed (hence all the sea shells found there). I mean those first Natives coming down from Siberia would have been for some major earth shifting action.

Aw, another logical fallacy, stating that something is older than 10,000 years does not mean that your THEORIES are correct.

$1:
This secular view[evolved over millions of years, without any divine intervention], while a relatively small number, is up from 9 percent in 1982, according to Gallup.

looks like the fundamentalist cult of scientific theory has grown 8O

Evolution is not a theory. It is fact. It is observable. Creationism is theory. It may be that the world was created by god but either way evolution is part of that creation. Denial = ignorance.
