Had a visit from a friend from up north. Brought smoked suckers. So having bibles tonight. Very good.

I have no idea what any of that is.

Probably just as well. :D

My kids are away for the weekend, so I'm thinking toast for dinner.
Or maybe chips if I don't feel like cooking.
Smoked suckers are just suckers
Imagethat are filleted and smoked. They are quite good. Smoking is the aboriginal method of fixing them, but suckers have been canned (called em prairie salmon) by white settlers in Saskatchewan for years. Probably in other places as well.

Edit
They are called bibles because people used to say the smoked fillets looked like a page from a book, and as the bible was the only book they had ever seen, bibles it was. :D

We used to catch tons of those in drainage ditches, creeks and rivers with nets made from chicken wire.

^Sounds like what happened at my house today, although I wasn't here for most of it. I started the bonfire before I left. We had a bunch of wet branches so I took some dried out pine branches and some bug spray and got that thing going good :D ...its still going.
