Now it's official, the Blue Jays sweep the double header 9-5 and 10-7, the first time they've swept the Yankees in a double header in New York. They are now 4.5 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East, and will have a chance to go to 5.5 games and sweep the series when they play the 4th and final game Sunday afternoon. Bad news is that Tulowitzki has a cracked shoulder blade resulting from his collision with centre fielder Kevin Pillar in the second inning of the opening game and may miss the rest of the season!

Darwin Barney, former gold glove infielder, acquired by Jays from Dodgers$1: The Toronto Blue Jays acquired some infield depth ahead of their series finale against New York.
The team announced Sunday that they acquired infielder Darwin Barney from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Barney, the 2012 National League Gold Glove Award winner at second base for the Chicago Cubs, is expected to be in New York for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
The move comes a day after all-star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki suffered a small crack in his shoulder blade when he collided with Kevin Pillar on a catch.
Barney, 29, appeared in two games for the Dodgers this season and spent the rest of the year with triple-A Oklahoma City, where he hit .277 with 15 doubles, four home runs and 31 runs batted in. The right-handed batter is a career .245 hitter in 566 games.

Damn, the Blue Jays lose the final game of the series 5-0 to the Yankees, only the 5th time this season they have been shutout, but they do take the 4 game series against the Yankees 3-1. This loss drops their lead in the AL east to 3.5 games over the same NY Yankees. Monday is an off day prior to the start of a 3 game series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.

Lovely, the Atlanta Braves snapped a 12-game losing streak at Turner Field with a 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays on Tuesday. The only good news today was Tampa Bay defeating the NY Yankees 6-3 at Tropicana Field allowing the Blue Jays to retain their 3 game advantage in the AL east. The Blue Jays dropped three games behind the Royals for the best record in the AL after Kansas City defeated the Indians, 2-0, earlier in the night.

The Blue Jays defeat the Atlanta Braves 9-1 to tie the series at 1. Jay's catcher Russell Martin joins the 20 home run club with his 20th of the year. The Yankees also won tonight, 3-1 over the Rays, so are still 3 games back of the Jays in the AL east.

Oh yeah, a 5-0 shutout against Atlanta is definitely a great way to end their 10 game road trip, bringing their record to 6-4 for the 10 games. The win also brings the Jays a 3.5 game lead over the Yankees! The series against Boston should be interesting even if they are at the bottom of the AL east. The Red Sox have been the only team to cause the Jays any grief lately, having won 5 of the last 7 games between the two teams.

I'd say the Jays handled the Red Sox pretty darn well last night and Marcus was the veritable energizer bunny on the mound. Good solid win by the Blue Birds. GO JAYS!

Definitely not a good day for the Blue Jays, not only losing the game 4-3, they also lost this series 2-1. The guys managed to commit three official errors on the day which directly led to their second loss in 2 days, something the Jays haven't done in about 5 weeks. The loss dropped their lead over the NY Yankees to 3 games, with the Yankees playing later today the lead could drop to 2.5 games. These same Yankees will be in town on Monday to start a 3 game series.

The Jays take game 1 of their 3 game series against the 3rd place NY Yankees 4-2 today, thanks to the great pitching of David Price, who allowed only 2 hits in 7 inning. This win gives the Blue Jays a 3.5 game lead over the Yankees and puts them only 1.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals for first place in the American League East.

Man the season may have hinged on Price getting his glove up in front of his face on that line drive in the first ining.
