What's going on? Canada's D is SHIT. We would have won if we hadn't let Finland score on a 4 on 1. Four Canadians againts One Fin. If Brodeur had been in nets, he probably wouldn't have let in the soft goal

Canada beats the last-placed Ukraine team 2-1. Wtf was that? If Canada has any hope of winning this tourny, and for the first time in 50 years winning three in a row, then out D really needs to step up againts the Slovaks. We all remember that cheap victory we had last time.

Canada 5 Slovakia 4
We win on a late goal.
Was looking for a better performance than this.more like a 3-1 score.Showing a much better defence would say we had turned the corner.
Good grief guys this is not an "All Star Game"
Lets see that D-E-F E-N-C-E ,and I don't mean getting ahead and sitting back waiting for the time to run out.
Canada's Womans team is looking up to you guys. They stumbled, but after some great hockey by that team...Get it together guys..."Go Canada Go". ![Hockey Body Check [hockey]](./images/smilies/nhl_crach.gif)

That INCREDIBLE save by Marty Breoduer on the penalty shot really saved Canada's bacon. I still think it was Canada's best game of the tourny, and thats not saying much so...
The Czechs beat USA, anyone notice?

Saturday :
Canada vs Russia
Sweden vs Czech Republic
As for canada's performance into today's game. I would have to say the offence was great but the Defence had alot of mental lapses and Brodeur has not performed as he is expected to.
I said from the begining I would be more comfortable having Luongo in goal and thus far, Brodeur has been surrending some bad goals that he should have had. He had around 24 saves on 28 shots today, not good.
I know you can attriute alot of that to Defensive mistakes but alot of the shots were also easy saves by NHL standards. If Brodeur does not elevate his game for saturday, the Russians will make short work of Canada. We need more responsible defence and a goalie who will play up to his standards.
Also, I don't agree with having a minor league coach. I think the players would respect an NHL coach much more.

Give Marty some credit man, that pently shot save was incredible. Plus Loungo let in some soft goals on Finland, froget about those?

Let's just hope we don't have to rely on a shoot out with the Russians. If so, we lose.

Not necissarily. Thorton, Nash, Heatly and CO should be able to make short work of anything the Ruskies can throw at us!!

Oh, and besides. Russia hasn't been a hockey power since the breakdown of the USSR and the Soviet Fitness Program. Canada should be able to avoid a shootout, and we'll probably play Sweden, least I hope we do.
This is how I figure it. Canadian Hockey players are incredibly proud. Not ever, not in a MILLION years, would they lose to the same team twice. It just... doesn't happen!!

You would think that, but that never seems to happen for us. Hopefully we can change history.
This doesn't really have anything to do with that, but it's another interesting link.
A familiar foe... kind of

I'm not worried... Nash hasn't really had a chance to do a shootout yet, and we all remember that incredibly cool goal againts the US on a breakaway. A few of those and we got this all locked up. Without Samsonov, and Khabibulan, and other such talented players, I just don't think Russia can pull it off.

Hmmm its going to be a tighty, tighter than my leopard spotted man thongs. Canada just has been to inconsistant throughout the tourny. It could go either way but Im going for the Vodka slammers. 1 goal difference. Ill be glad to eat my shorts if Im wrong.
