The problem with any new political party attempting to affect change is they are simply yet another political party working for recognition and votes and in the world of big politics that takes a lot of time and effort making it very tough to succeed. I am actually surprised that our current federal...

-Nationally elected Governor General? -Nationally elected Speaker of the house? I was meaning our PM not being affiliated with a political party but an independant seated to guide legislation through the house and keep the focus on the issues being dealt with. Not towing a party line. Let the Leader...

1) Dedicated election dates. 2) Elected senate, or desolve the chamber. 3) Referendum votes on special issues. 4) Equal represention in the House. 5) Adopt one official language. 4) Grow some spine when dealing with a corrupt gov't. Nice list, lets keep it going. 5) Independantly, nationally electe...

I would bring in some protectionist measures. Reinstall the foriegn investment review board and stop the sale of Canada piece by piece to American conglomerates. I would also like to see a lot less of Canada's raw resources going south. Don't sell logs, sell lumber. Live cattle? No, but you can buy...

We do not have in place the basic edcuation for our population to make informed decisions. It is only those that decide for themselves to have an intrest in things political that actually run for governments and show up at the voting stations. If we had in place in our edcuation system from the grad...

An NDP government. lol Like thats ever going to happen. Try to get Quebec on even ground with the other provinces. Trudeau was right when he said we shouldnt 'appease' Quebec. How can Canada get Quebec up to par as it is now the Equilization payments to that province are the largest in the country....

Why does it have to be a dream? The only way that change happens is on the ground when it comes to something as big as this. It doesn't have to be a dream, but I know it is. Not enough people feel the same way I do (the system is broken)... and for some reason, the media does not criticize the gove...

Why does it have to be a dream? The only way that change happens is on the ground when it comes to something as big as this. Just remember, though: people in power do not want to give up power. You either have to force or coax them. History will tell you this all over again. If you hold a massive p...

My ideas: I don't want to be critical and seem like I'm speaking from the cheap seats, so here are some ideas of my own (off the top of my head). Senate restructuring: - Chosen by provinces / elected... seat weighting as determined by current system, or through constitutional negotiations with the ...

You had me going there for a while, and you raise some interesting points, but I have to disagree with a few things... Senate restructuring: - I agree that senators should be chosen by the provinces / elected, and that the senate should have term limits (with the possibility of being re-elected). -...

Thankyou for the insight and comparision rgmontal. I do not think any system can be perfect and we would be fools to believe that it can, but what Canada has at this point is not working well. Knowing how other countries are dealing with their governance is a good thing..........
