Irrespective of the public official involved, this is appalling, an attack on the rule of law. Picketing politicians outside their homes is part of the same reprehensible trend.

The Liberals under Trudeau have moved to the left, creating a clear opportunity for a centre-right party to appeal to fiscally conservative voters in the Chretien/Mulroney policy region of the spectrum. Erin O’Toole could have played that role but the troops kept dragging him towards the PPC rabbit ...

You pre-shocked me. I’ll just have to go with ‘bears and woods come to mind’.

Every NATO country should send weapons. It’s the least we can do.

Biden’s gaffe revealed nothing that Putin doesn’t know already. The mood in America is strongly against foreign entanglements of any sort but I wouldn’t say ordinary Russians are too keen on the idea either. A prolonged war against fellow Slavs requiring a significant number of body bags could turn ...

Have Russia join NATO and have the Chinese occupy Ukraine. I think that will piss everyone off right?

If Russia was a normal post-communist country that respected its neighbours, joining NATO would be a prudent long-term goal given the lean and hungry looks China is giving Siberia.

I don’t like Ukraine’s government or Poland’s or Hungary’s but I would find the prospect of Russia invading any of them (or in Ukraine’s case, invading it yet again) outrageous. Regarding anti-semitism, nobody in Eastern Europe is perfect. Ukraine does have a Jewish president and for a while in 2019...

Something I didn’t realize - how seriously brain death can affect organ quality: Brain-dead organ donors represent the major source of organs for organ transplantation. The path from a brain-dead potential donor to a favorable graft and recipient outcome is long, and can have a cardinal impact on th...

On January 7, a 57 year old man with terminal cardiac failure underwent a nine hour operation at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and received a cardiac transplant from a pig. Three innovations made this historic procedure possible: 1. Genetic modification. Ten genes were changed in the...

The verdict seems in line with the law which is even more frightening. America seems unable to change its gun culture and may face chaos down the road because of it.

We’re safe for maybe a decade more but after that who knows. Many of the same forces powering the alt-right are at work in Canada as the US.

The two main parties are shrinking. We should either make minority govts last longer or start trying coalitions.
