How many homicides in Edmonton this year have been gang related, how many have been by someone known to the victim (crime of passion)? And how many have been innocent bystanders? (zero!)

I'm more worried about the traffic on the Whitemud with all the construction. Morons seem to flourish.

I understand it is homicide #18 though and it concerns me d/t every day when I see people drugged-up to the eyeballs asking me for change. I don't want to be one of those statistics. Traffic is defo an issue as well.

They don't publish by 'cause'. But I watch the news, and lucky I have a good memory.

There hasn't been a 'random' person murdered in Edmonton since an 18 year old was killed walking home from her 18th birthday party late one night. All others have been crimes of passion, or gang related. And that was in 2005.

See the recent Stats Can reports? Violent crime is down overall.

And that's the problem - people give them change, instead of pointing them toward the Hope mission or AADAC where there are people to help them. The really hardcore ones don't want the help, they want the money.

You are more likely to get killed crossing the street than by a homeless person. (Most of them aren't 'homeless' BTW).

Between the redneck morons that come speeding home every second Thursday from McMurray and the Native gangsters relocating to the city from Hobbema it's a wonder that Edmonton hasn't been burnt to the ground yet. And I'll try really hard not to make any comments that if it happened it would be an improvement.....

You don't have the faintest clue what your talking about.

When the police tried to pull a drunk driving sting the police commissioner and a police reporter, city council made it go bye-bye. Every few months, there are reports of excessive force/police brutality, yet most officers walk away with only a sentence of 'suspended with pay' for a week or two. Our band of leftists is currently planning on buying a 2nd police helicopter and we're adding recruits to the force as fast as they can hire them.

There may be a few lefties on the council (Tooker Gomberg), but we've had our fair share of righties, like Bill Smith, Leroy Chalhey (former chief of police no less) etc. We may be called 'Redmonton' for how we vote in provincial elections, but the city council is a pretty even split usually.
