herbie herbie:
Go take a look in the cereal section to see shrinkflation

Sadly, shrinkflation has been happening for years. Bacon used to always come in a 1 pound (454 g) packages, now it's most brands have 375 packages. Coca-Cola products used to come in 591 ml (20 oz.) bottles, now they come in 500 ml bottles. And so on.

It pisses me off, and I'd prefer to pay an extra 50 cents for the normal size, instead of the same price for less.

Still noting compared to local SaveOn selling bananas all the way from central America for 78c/lb and peaches from the Okanogan for $4.99/lb
Told the store manager that you know you're old when you think Hah! Ten cent candy bars are $1.79 now...
Pepsi hasn't shrunk their bottles.... yet.

Canada’s supply chains ‘desperately’ need overhaul amid global pinch: report

$1:
Released Thursday, the report’s authors highlight how government and industry struggle to cope with uncertainties arising due to factors like rapidly changing trade patterns, human- and climate-caused disruptions, shifting geopolitical risk and increased consolidation in major transportation modes.

“As such, government, transportation and logistics providers, shippers, producers, manufactures and retailers must act decisively and urgently together to create a supply chain system that is more agile, flexible, resilient, competitive and efficient than it is today,” the report reads.

“Modernized and future-proof regulatory frameworks, along with intensified cooperation between and within the public and private sectors, will be needed if Canada is to remain relevant in the global marketplace."

The grain needs a train: Billions of dollars at stake on the prairies
$1:
The world needs Canadian grain more than ever. And they are buying it, providing a huge boost to prairie economies. This year, a bumper crop could be even better than 2021. If only we can get it all to market.

For the past few weeks, train companies have not been able to provide enough cars to move all the grain that's needed to port. And when the beginning of the supply chain stalls, it creates huge problems down the line. So how did this happen, who is at fault, and how do we fix it, fast?
