Is this the fruit of the stupid overreaction by the Islamists to some Danish cartoons? That violent reaction has likely subdued the Dane's tradtional usually politically correct stance on world affairs.
One should always be careful what on wishes especially if those wishes involve death threats in public.
The demonstrators certainly succeeded in influencing the Danes but certainly did win any friends and it appears made some potent enemies.
One of the stero-typical notions of Canadians and Americans is that current European military personnel are sort of comic-opera. Nothing could be further from the truth. These people are very professional, well equiped and well trained soldiers. These folk do not resemble the defeatist, unhappy french army of 1940 but rather reflect the prestigious, professionalism of the WHERMACHT of 1940. Even the much ridiculed Italians are a force to be thoroughly respected.
Yes! The French accuse the Americans of being arrogant, Switzerland holds the America's Cup and the German's appear to refuse to go to war. If the current petty political restraints are removed the restive troops deployed to Afghanistan, the Taliban hasn't seen anything yet.
This is a good sign.
It is a fight for the hearts and minds and the muslim radicals have lost the battle for the hearts and minds of Europe. In their stupidity they have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
The recent French elections indicate that europe is growing impatient with it's mulim guests.
