But Hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a CD playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said. She told the teachers to drop the song from the program.
"We don't want to offend other cultures," they quoted her as explaining.

They won't allow kindergarten students sing a patriotic song in the USA for fear of offending other cultures?
Well, these glass-jawed cultures should learn right quick that we are a patriotic sort in the U.S. and Canada and don't take kindly to visitors telling us what not to say. If they are new citizens, they should join in and be proud of their new country... [B-o]

Wada Wada:

Their families are patriotic then... there is nothing wrong with being raised to love and respect the country in which they were born. If they are told there is nothing special about that, then society as we know it will be worsened. They will get all the chances in the world to have some navel-gazing when they get into high-school and university about their place in the world. However, the opportunities and benefits afforded them, even without their explicit understanding of how that works, justifies children singing about their homeland.
The Canadian and US flags were all over my childhood, in Little League, Boy Scouts (USA), Hockey and the rest... Things I had access to, opportunities I had that would have been harder to come by in say, Moldavia.
There is nothing wrong in raising children to respect other countries and cultures, but they first need to know and be proud of their own. [B-o]

Stupid vapid PC leftists like this are the sole reason that their mirror-image morons on the right exist in the first place. In a place like the US, how hard is it for some of these idiots to understand that if you don't insult the country, the flag, the anthem, or even songs from duh-duh bubbas like Lee Greenwood, then the other side doesn't have an excuse to get all crazy and riled up? Seriously, how dumb and oblivious of bad publicity can this woman be? :?

This is exactly why I give no credence to those they rave about what they may or may not teach in Madrassas. It's all backwards and wrong.

The principal, a Jehovah’s Witness, does not recite the pledge because her religion forbids followers to salute any nation’s flag.

Well that explains everything.

Exactly, This Moronic PC twit who made this decision to try to not to offend people by allowing students IN the United States from singing a patriotic song will offend a great many more people. A number of folks are going to feel that they need to do something about it.

Imagine if somebody were to say the same thing about Singing O' Canada at a graduation at a school in Ontario as it might offend Americans and a few folks from Quebec.

No. not a PC Twit....he's a a Jo Ho. They have a hang up about others praying. likely stems more from his religious beliefs rather than concern for offending the sensitivities of others.
