Given America's current situation, further integration is dangerous adn harmful. It's like making two hearts with diferent beats change into two hearts with the same beat. If one fails, so does the other...

Why should the Harper government work with the other parties that are so far apart on this issue? It's an either or proposition that is being presented and lets not pretend that the liberals were on board with this until they got booted from power and now see the topic as a political football. The position of the other parties are carbon copies of the liberals so where is there any grounds for talks? The Tories have everything to lose as this won't pass and nothing to gain as it will only give ammunition to the people who won't support them anyway. Walking out was the only option left.

Perhaps, but a leopard doesn't change its spots just because we wish it to.

Plentiful water not assured, report warns

I fully expect the issue of 'ground water' to be handled in the exact same way as the environment has been thus far as a whole currently. If we end up short on fresh water that is one scandal the Tories will not be able to hang on the wigs.
