The New York Rangers will try for their eighth straight home win when they host the Vancouver Canucks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

It is the Rangers' longest home winning streak since winning nine in a row from Oct. 19-Nov. 23, 2015. New York, which defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in overtime on Friday, has outscored opponents 29-14 during the streak.

I missed this one, but NHL.com tells us New York won in a shootout. 4-3

Damn...have we won one in extra minutes yet this season? I don't think so. Why not? [huh]

Goals by Louis Eriksson in the 1st, his 3rd of the season, Jake Virtanen, also his 3rd of the season in the 2nd period and Sam Gagner, also his 3rd in the 3rd period gave the Canucks a 3-3 tie with the NY Rangers. While out shooting the Rangers 32-20 the team went 0/1 on the PP and held the Rangers to 0/2 on their only PPs. No scoring in the OT period lead to 7 rounds in the shoot out with the Rangers Jimmy Vesey scoring to finally win the game 4-3. The Canucks' record for this 6 game road trip now stands at 2-1-1 with 2 games remaining to play, Tuesday vs the NY Islanders and Thursday playing in Nashville.

The Canucks have played 4 games that went into OT so far this season, 2 of which went to the SO. Unfortunately they have lost all 4 of those games....

I heard a little bit of the game on the radio and it sounded like our guys were all over them.

I can't believe we lost from what I heard.

A PP goal by Thomas Vanek, his 6th, in the 1st and a SH goal by Bo Horvat, his 10th, in the 2nd was all the offense the Canucks could muster in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders. This brings their record for this 6 game road trip to 2-2-1. The Canucks end this trip Thursday when they visit Nashville.

They missed a lot of chances. Still think they are good for a playoff spot though.
