It's still mathematically possible that no one from the Southwest Division of the Eastern Conference of the NHL will have enough points to make the top eight in the conference. Will the division leader still make the playoffs even though they don't have enough points to make the top eight in the conference?

There are a lot of stupid rules in the NHL these days:
- Seeding division leaders to the top 3
- Automatic delay of game penalty for the puck going over the glass
- Shootouts
Those are the ones that bug me the most.

Shootouts are great. How can you not like the shootouts?
I'm not so sure I like the 2 / 1 point arrangement for an overtimme win. It makes it harder to keep track of points.

Shootouts suck because they're not hockey. They're a one-on-one who-screws-up-first contest.

Having the #1 in a Division go to the playoffs makes a Division race possible. Otherwise, why bother having Divisions?
