Nothing wrong with them, they are just smarter than you and appreciate the fact that Americans are not as welcomed abroad as some of them care to believe.
It is the loud few that ruin it for many, granted, but still the case.

I have not traveled around the world but someday I will and when I do, I will sew a big Canadian Flag on everything because Canada rocks .

Does a sticker in the back window of my truck count? Also a can/usa crossed flags pin on the lapel of my suit

Since I can't sew worth crap I manage to subtly drop an "eh?" now and then. It's just as effective and less likely to be co-opted by Americans. Except for New Yorkers. This is why:
Canadians go "How's it going, eh?"
New Yorkers go "Ehhhhhhh, how's it going?"

I have one hanging in my room. If I ever get a tattoo, I'll be a maple leaf of Canadian flag. I also have a roots backpack, so the sewn on flag comes as a freebee.

I spent this Christmas in the beautiful Indian province of Rajasthan. I had a Canadian Flag sewn on some article of mine wherever I went. No joke.

Only thing I would ever take the time to put on my backpack would be a pot leaf. I think it's a pretty universal symbol....
