My problem with student loan forgiveness is that it does absolutely nothing about the problem of runaway tuition prices. In fact it probably makes it worse. No good deed goes unpunished. Every time that the government comes up with a program to help someone, some greedy asshole finds a way to siphon off the aid for their own benefit. Case in point: the other day Congress passes the Inflation Reduction Act (stupid name as it does nothing about inflation). Part of the act was to give people tax credits of $7,500 for an electric vehicle. The day after the act becomes law, GM and Ford announce price increases on their electric vehicles to the tune of between $6,000 and $8,500. The greedy assholes just stole the entire tax credit for themselves. They get to pocket our hard earned tax dollars and earn an extra $8,500 per vehicle just like that. They do not have to spend any time negotiating at the dealership to get it. Oh and a few days after they announce that they will be siphoning off our tax dollars for themselves, Ford announces that they will be laying off 3000 employees. 3000 people that our tax dollars will have to support because some company that we are told is too big to fail gets to fuck people over and ruin lives to improve their balance sheet for the stockholders. If a company is too big to fail, then they are too BIG. They should be broken apart like Standard Oil was. We keep bailing out these companies that are too big to fail with the understanding that the bailout money will be used to keep people employed. They fuck us every time. They buy back their stock at depressed prices. They give managers bonuses, and they layoff the workers every fucking time.

The youth of today loves to bitch about greedy assholes. They will bitch about the greedy employers paying shitty wages. They will bitch about the greedy landlords sticking it up their ass every month. Fair enough, but how come I never hear them bitch about the greedy assholes running the colleges and universities? If any corporation raises their prices, we hear about it nonstop from the youth. They bitch and protest. Yet almost no industry has increased their prices as much as colleges and universities have over the years. College costs have increased 747% since 1963. Where is all that money going? Don't tell me that they are spreading it around, because they are not. in 1969 78.3% of the people teaching at a university were tenured, or on tenure track. In 2009 33.5% of the people teaching are tenured or on tenure track. Nowadays they use adjunct professors who do not get shit. No tenure, no benefits, nothing! A few years back when my kid was in college, most of her professors were graduate students working for chump change while getting their masters degree. Tuition prices have increased dramatically, while tenure has decreased dramatically. People with only a four year degree teaching most of the classes for shit money. The quality of the education has gone down while the price has gone up. Yet I never see the youth calling out the universities for being greedy bastards. Why is that? The only protests that I see going on at campuses across the country is over pronouns, statues, and conservative guest speakers. They love calling my boomer ass greedy because I do not want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars so they can get a worthless degree in women's studies/black studies, etc., yet they have nothing to say to the greedy assholes charging them hundreds of thousands for worthless degrees. That would be like some spoiled brat throwing a tantrum because his parents do not want to spring for his Rolex watch. His parents are the greedy ones for not wanting to spend tens of thousands of dollars, yet Rolex is somehow not greedy for wanting tens of thousands of dollars for a fucking watch.

The youth are always wanting to cancel someone. Cancel the schools. Stop going. Boycott the fuckers until the prices come down. Tell them: "hell no we won't go!!!" Everyone take a year off. Shut them all down. They need you a hell of a lot more than you need them. Let a bunch of them go under. Show them you mean business. Tell them what you are willing to pay. One semester would be all that it would take. See the people that work at those places are adults. They have mortgages and car payments to make. They NEED to work. They HAVE to work. They have you believing that they call the shots, when the opposite is true. The buyer is in the drivers seat when it comes to getting an education.

Stop calling people greedy for not wanting to pay for YOUR shit. Take on the ACTUAL greedy bastards that run the schools. You are taking on employers, now take on the educators. Why do they get a free pass to stick it up your ass? You are refusing to work shitty jobs for shitty pay. GOOD!!! Now quit giving away the farm for a sheepskin already. Quit paying a king's ransom for a substandard education. Far past time to bring down this house of cards already.

Sounds like Capitalism. :)

We have a different problem here. Governments constantly de-funding Universities, then claiming that they are preparing the youth for future economic opportunities. It's not as bad as down south, but it does get expensive for people to get a good education and become elevated tax payers.

People need to suffer for capitalism to work.

The right needs to come to grips with the idea that capitalism is not a suicide pact. It got civilization to where we are today but if we continue on this trajectory of predatory capitalism it will feed on US and turn our planet into a hellscape.

Example.

I am SICK AND TIRED OF LYING HYPOCRITES BEING HELD UP AS ORACLES OF TRUTH when they steal right in front of your eyes.

Today we review our predictions for student debt relief and square them with Biden’s proposed plan
$1:
Conservatives were locked and loaded to criticize this as a bailout to the participation trophy generation, which overlooks so many crucial points about the character and cost of debt that has accrued in the past 20 years. As the loyal opposition, they don’t have to be nuanced. They just have to be angry and prey on a perverted sense of injustice that lower income individuals and families are getting some relief while others in the past did not. I won’t patronize Unf*ckers with a long diatribe about the inconsistency of this stance but for shits and giggles, let’s map out helpful talking points about “fairness”:

If you own a home, you get to deduct mortgage interest. If you rent you don’t.

If you’re a middle income wage earner you pay 6.2% toward Social Security. Those who earn more than $147,000 a year stop paying once they hit this number, which makes Social Security a regressive tax. Thanks Alan Greenspan!

More than 5 million business owners had PPP loans from 2020 completely forgiven. This money was treated as below the line income and therefore non taxable. In other words, free money.

So far, the average budget impact estimate of forgiveness is around $500 billion over ten years, with some assumptions we’ll review about in a minute. The Trump tax cuts cost the nation about double that amount and potentially more.

The increase in college tuition has doubled the rate of inflation over the past 40 years for a whopping total increase of 1,100%. So your old debt is not the fucking same as the new debt.

There are senior citizens who have student debt payments deducted from their Social Security payments.

Call back to our Corporate (Ir)Responsibility essays. It’s estimated that wealthy individuals and corporations are hiding $36 trillion offshore to avoid taxes. Of that amount, Americans are responsible for $10 trillion of it. So do tell me again about fairness. Go on.

And then, in the ultimate fucking HA-HA, conservatives pushed for liberalization of trade agreements so they could move manufacturing jobs offshore. Then they told workers to go to college and retrain for service jobs. But, without trade union protections, the very same conservative employers were able to pay workers less and make them at will and more vulnerable, which led to wage stagnation among middle and lower class workers who couldn’t afford the fucking student debt they were told to take on to get that mid-level management and service fucking job. And now there are even some republicans saying the quiet part out loud that this giveaway will reduce the incentive for poor people to enlist in military, which should tell you exactly how fucking expendable poor people are in this country where republicans are concerned!

One of Old Joe's best career moments, mostly because what he said can't be credibly denied. A grand slam hit would have been great but with this one he still managed to nail a stand-up triple....

A solid speech. I hope one day we find out who lit the fire under Biden’s ass. He’s gone from sleepy grandpa to ornery grandpa and it’s been a breath of fresh air. Especially from the democrats who are their own worst enemies when it comes to messaging and setting the tone.

With COVID no longer the pressing concern I think Biden can pivot more to concentrate on Trump's crimes. The damage done by the MAGAs is by far the hugest problem. Ukraine is bad but the war there obviously isn't going to widen, unless Putin completely loses his mind and attacks Poland or the Baltics. And the economy is what it is. But the waves of economic instability created by the COVID effects, especially inflation, appear to be lessening in intensity. So that leaves Trump's activities, especially his ongoing & potential future activities, as the 80-ton gorilla in the room. I have doubts that very much of the ethical & moral destruction he caused can ever be repaired. American politics were already monumentally fucked before Trump and in a way all he did was turn the dial of ongoing insanity & criminality up from it's former setting at ten to eleventy on the scale of overall depravity. But seeing the Dems and the handful of ethical Republicans remaining not running away from MAGA anymore is certainly encouraging.
