Affording Hercules and Leo the status of legal 'persons' means that the Long Island university where they are being held must now prove the legality of their imprisonment.

    Another bad title. The judge rules biomed research chimps are more than property. A far cry from affording them rights the same as a person.

    Somewhat misleading but accurate, they have been granted "some" human rights.

    As the summary says, Habeus Corpus allows the right to challenge detention, but "Person is not a synonym for �human being�, but designates an entity with the capacity for legal rights."

    I think it should go a lot farther, but then again I'm strange. There's an entire phylum of living organisms that humans tear the genetailla off of and wear as decoration! We don't often think of what we do! The carnage! ;)
