To me, it is. I hate dragging shit from one thread to another. So, excuse me, but I never attacked the police, not in this thread and not in others. I might have attacked certain officers (like the asshole who drank and drove, killed a biker) but that will never be dragged on to another thread by me. So please, keep me out of this bs.

I did not quote you, I did not attack police. But I am so so sorry, I will not BUTT IN in any thread that you post in. You might want to stop talking to me, as I will to you. I am kinda getting tired of your almighty attitude. It's getting old.
Have a nice rest of your day.

As an xcop and currently licensed by the LSUC I can assure you that any off-duty cop would immediately have taken control of this situation. Reading the article and noting Donny B also reading it, as well as the geographical locale, it's entirely possible drink, drugs, or lack of lithium contributed to this disgusting attack.
No one has been stipped of their rights to defend the victim - the law cleary states that one can use as much force as necessary to subdue/arrest - nothing wrong with a citizens arrest - however, you better make sure you have your ducks in a row or you too will be charged, regardless - as the law (read 'police') ensures their particularly fat and wide backside is protected individually as well as collectively.
There is no way I would stand by and watch this crap without intervening avec my stilettos and nails-of-fury - however, that's me and I have been trained.
To criticize the passengers and call them sheep is totally irresponsible - as this is a situation they are clearly not trained for, nor equipped to deal with. Furthermore, most police officers seldom, if ever, actually see a 'fight' - usually they just pick up the pieces.
So, don't stop Brenda - and knock off the supercilious 'tude dude. . . .

EyeBrock EyeBrock: It's not an insult Brenda, where in what I posted is an insult?
People say that police should be held to a higher standard.
How about expecting people to be held up to a higher standard?
How about expecting people to step in and sort a bully out?
A bus full of 'average' people stand and watch? 40 people don't need to be 'trained', they just need to stop watching and take some action.
Then the same 'average' people can only criticise police when they find an opportunity? Come on. Studies have shown that people are far more likely to react to such a situation if there are fewer, rather than more witnesses. That doesn't exonerate those who stood by and did nothing other than call 911, but it does make their actions understandable. I can say that I was once witness to a swarming and it happened so fast that I didn't react until it was almost too late. Even then, I sought to protect myself and my friend, rather than those being swarmed. In retrospect, I felt a little guilty, but those who were swarmed really should have known better than to make racist comments about natives on an LRT train full of them. But I did go straight to the police station afterwards and fill out a report and offer up names and descriptions of those involved. Despite the media fury this incident spawned, it was several weeks before detectives ever got around to interviewing me and showing me security camera footage. EyeBrock EyeBrock: I can safely say that any off duty cop or soldier wouldn't have froze. That's what we do, take on the bad guys. This is exactly why cops and soldiers should be held to a higher standard, they have the training in deadly force most of the population do NOT have, as well as far more latitude in dispensing it then us regular folks do.

just remember police and soldiers started out as regular folk too. There are lots of people out there with a strong sense of justice that intervene in these type of situations.

There are lots of people out there with a strong sense of justice that intervene in these type of situations. That doesn't mean that you can expect it from just anyone. I don't think a strong sense of justice or lack thereof has anything to do with the fact that I (as an example, only to avoid generalization) would freeze and hang on to my kids instead of jump up and kick his ass with my 5'5, 130 lbs body. I would be the first to call 911, btw.

Unf Unf: Bus drivers suck alright. I wonder why the bus driver didn't use lethal force to defend himself? Or why all the law abiding Edmontonian gun slingers didn't leap to the front of the bus brandishing away like mad? I wonder how many passengers thought the driver was getting his comeuppance for driving away on the guy running for the bus? Life's grand prade I guess. Shitiot alert.....

2Cdo 2Cdo: This doesn't surprise me. Years of having politicians strip away the right to defend yourself or others. Years of politicians telling us to not fight back lest we face criminal charges. Years of soft on crime politicians placing criminals rights ahead of victims rights have left us with people who would sit and watch a man get beaten by some dirtbag rather than helping him and potentially facing criminal charges. point and match!

“They were arguing for a full few minutes there. It looked like he was ready to start fighting,” the witness said....
....Then, suddenly, the man took a swing at the driver. The witness, who was was sitting at the front of the bus behind the drivers seat,
In what seemed like seconds,....
the man had dragged the driver out the open doors to the ground immediately below and continued to beat him there, while the horrified passengers WATCHED, screaming.
“He began to stomp on his face over and over and over again. It was pretty bad,”
the man said.
The assault happened so quickly that none of the passengers had a chance to intercede,
I fully understand, and completely agree with Eyebrock on this one.
As soon as the 'witness' ( who by accounts is a 'man'???) and the other passengers saw the driver being grabbed, or at any point thereafter was the time to intercede!

I agree all's it would have taken was a verbal confrontation from the passengers . You sit there and watch somebody get dragged off of a bus?

Whats the matter did you get kicked off a bus once for not paying a fare? Nope, I don't ride the bus. But I have in the past. There are plenty of bus drivers that are total assholes. I know that some people feel that no matter what kind of a shithead you are to people, you shouldn't get hassled for it. When you suck, you sometimes get beat down for it. Such is life for teacup despots.
