Considering if I won the lottery I'd move back to Owen Sound and retire, I'd say I'm not very anti-Canadian.. I'm tired of the government not giving a shit and it affecting my livelihood. That is my problem. That should be your problem too.

No, we want the Government to stop reallocating our money to other provinces. I'm just an inarticulate person when I type.

I think GM and Wallstreet has taught us bailouts don't work.

We also want the government to take us out (somewhere nice, like Chipotle) before it hard fucks us in the ass. We also want the Government to be less obvious when they plan to take a massive shit on a province. So, as you can see we just want small things.

Then move to that mythical place where they tax you and the money's still yours to have a say about.
Otherwise the same bleating for decades even when the PM or half the cabinet's from Alberta goes in one ear and out the other.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
If it makes you feel any better then note this:

Gas is cheaper in Hawaii than in California despite the fact that their gas is refined in California and then shipped 2500 miles to get to Hawaii.

All because our fucked up Democrats laid on a ~$.50 per gallon tax to 'fight global warming' (and pay for welfare for illegal aliens).

We're due for a Yellow Vest protest in California.

No. Gas is not cheaper in Hawaii.

3 years ago, in 2015, the lowest gas prices in certain parts of Hawaii were briefly lower than the highest gas prices in certain parts of California and it made the news, especially in the right-o-sphere because it’s so unusual.

Gas remains more expensive in Hawaii

Hey there was no trans-mountain pipeline this summer when gas was over $1.40 a litre so I have a hard time believing this is all the fault of the evil non-Albertans and FN. The ability of the oilpatch to move oil hasn’t changed why did they produce such an oversupply?

I’m just really skeptical of the oil companies’ motives and actions and notice that Albertans never seem to point the finger in that direction whatever the oil executives say seems to be accepted as gospel. I notice the top 5 oilsands producers are still profitable and collectively make the same revenue as the Alberta government.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4896996

These same companies also own the refineries why aren’t there any refineries in Alberta?

But it’s all Ontario’s fault!

Ok I’ll answer my own question then. It seems the answer to why the Oil Cos don’t locate any of their refineries in Alberta is related to the reason why hither-to conservative paradise and oil&gas refinery central Louisiana is so poor:

Dude, you know Ontario has the highest non-sovereign debt in the world... It owes 312 billion. Its GDP to Debt is 40%. It saw a 54% increase in debt from 2007/2008 to 2016/2017. Canada as a whole only owes 616 Billion. I stand by my run into the ground statement. You can be a delicate snowflake and stay in your safety circle and be safe in knowing that the mean man from Alberta can't hurt you there or you can be mindful that Ontario is in a fiscally unstable position, you need a non-idiot to help lead you from that mess... But there I go bashing Canada again.

Omg 40% debt fo GDP!

So what do you Japans debt to GDP is around 280% of GDP and has been for decades? USA is 107% of GDP. Debt hysteria is a just a ploy to advance the austerity agenda

Exactly.

No matter which party is in charge of our country there will always be crap we have to put up with and stupid decisions and policies they make to bitch about. It's something we can and should all share and none of this "ROC" bullshit. Some are making it seem that the residents of provinces are personally responsible for decisions made by those in power and that is ludicrous. Let's direct the hostility where it belongs rather than at each other.

For the record, you have officially replaced Québec as the whiniest province in Canada.

Don't blame us, we learned from watching the masters (Quebec) do it for a few decades!

What the hell are you talking about?

Alberta has the most refineries in the country, and by far the most refining capacity, and already supplies a huge chunk of Western Canada.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_o ... ies#Canada

Refineries aren't the problem.

The problem is getting our products - refined or otherwise - to both domestic and global markets.

That was part of the point behind the Transmountain expansion and Energy East.

It carries 350,000 BPD of oil or refined product, and has done so for more than 60 years without a maritime spill. 55,000 of that is refined in Burnaby. The rest goes to Anacortes for refining and shipment back into BC. If TMX happened, we could export to world markets (expansion) AND supply BC (current mainline) with all the oil, diesel, jet fuel and gasoline it needs.

The same went for Energy East - a big chunk (up to 80% would likely have been exported), but the rest would have been Alberta light crude, still almost 50% of what we produce, which could have been refined at ANY refinery down east.

Instead, you continue to import fracked oil from the US midwest and oil from Europe, Venezuela, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia.
