Amanda, AGAIN, stands for ALL the victims of bullying, whether visible or not. Her suicide made it visible. Bullying is a real problem and can ruin people's life forever. I am glad that she, and her parents, showed how bullying can ruin your self esteem so deeply, that the only way out that they see, is the last resort.

In my days, when I was her age, we certainly did have suicides. They were just not visible. Nor was there much attention for their problems. There is now.

Amanda spent time in hospital for depression - ie it was pretty bad. We don't know what the cause was, she may have killed herself even if she was never bullied. She wrote that she had no one, which is not true, but certainly the way she felt in her depression.

Where I will agree about the attention she is getting, is that I bet a lot of people who are now "grieving" about her death stood by and watched her being bullied, or even bullied her themselves. Or would have if they had actually known her. A lot of the grieving is about the people doing it, rather than about Amanda. Kind of a Dianna moment for many, I bet. But if her death does get some change in our attitudes towards bullying, then it won't have been in vain.

People suffering from depression are usually VERY good at hiding it, because they do not want to be labeled as "weak".

Sorry, but it just frustrates me about how the media chooses and controls what they want people to care about. People die everyday due to suicide and no one cares. Kids got arrested in Ontario because of bullying which I think is wrong, they have an opinion and should be able to speak their mind.

In my personal opinion Amanda Todd didn't deserve to live. There are hundreds of ways around suicide. She was just proven to be weak and its natural selection taking affect.

People have been offing themselves for years because of bullying, but we're getting all the attention now. Why is it that people suddenly care? People feel guilty about it? Brenda, I barely remember Tyler Clementi. Just like 2 years from now we'll barely remember Amanda Todd. It's wrong, but frankly it's the truth. When something terrible happens everyone likes to jump on a bandwagon, shake their fists and scream for action. But 6 months from now, nothing will be different, there will be little if any change, and everyone will have forgotten. Except the family.

But everyone who screamed for action is going to feel better about themselves. They'll think "liking" something on facebook, or posting "we should do something" on a forum actually means sweet fuck all. It, unfortunately, doesn't. It just makes everyone feel better.
