It's less that it's becoming more complex as opposed to it descending to a depth of dangerous simplification. No nuance or thinking outside the tribal box is wanted anymore. In fact thinking outside the box makes one as much of an enemy as the true genuine enemies out there are.
I'll point out once more what Ronald Reagan said a long time ago about the moderate and centrist Democrats who were still seen as a scourge, just for being Democrats, to the true no-compromise fanatics among the Republicans that he had unfortunately brought into his big tent. Reagan said that a representative or senator that voted 80% of the time in favour of the policies he wanted and against him only 20% wasn't an enemy, they were a mostly dependable ally and a friend who deserved to be treated as allies and friends. The psycho GOP couldn't process this thought because, due to their insatiable puritanical mania, just from a person being a Democrat alone they were to be seen as a 100% enemy worthy only of destruction.
That sort of nuance Reagan had is entirely extinct now. Not just in politics either but in almost all social & cultural context. And not just on the psycho right but it's now the predominant characteristic of the extremist left who are being as successful at pushing actual liberals out of their tribe as the radical no-compromise rightists have been as purging moderate conservatives out of their coalitions. The same thing has been happening here at CKA for the better part of at least the last two years now as well. Don't support the new agenda 100% without any dissent? Well, enjoy your demonization, your cancellation, and all the mockery we are going to aim at you.
What happened on social media came to CKA with a vengeance and has effectively taken this place over. That it happened with such little resistance to it from the membership here is as stunning as it is appalling. "Tolerant & kind liberals", my ass.
