Well, I know you Albertans had their beefs with him, but he died September 28, 2000.

All the years that Rob Ford had to ensure being called names by the same councilors who are whining now in the same chamber, well, I guess payback's a bitch.

Oh, so THAT's what mayors are for. I thought they got elected to run a city and make important decisions. Apparently you actually become mayor to get revenge. Gawd, what a fuckin idiot I must be.

No that's what Don Cherry is for. Also if your David Miller you get elected to turn Toronto into your own version of SimCity, damn the financial consequences. Party's over pinkos, time to live in reality.

Rob Ford is an idiot. Case in point: he was the only one there who would not expect Don Cherry to make a belligerant speech. How does anyone who knows something about Don Cherry not think he was a belligerant person? This is a guy who openly advocates fist fighting in hockey!

Figures a European would have an issue with fist fighting in Hockey

Since when am I European?

I said nothing of whether I am for or against fist fighting in hockey. But you have to stupid to think that fist fighting, especially the kind that happens in hockey, is not a belligerent activity.

Don Cherry is the mayor now? This is all so confusing.

I have no idea what David Miller did to Toronto, all I know is that he was not a very good mayor. But I do know Rob Ford is not the solution to David Miller. Taking something broken and breaking it more doesn't fix anything.

Not belligerent but a sport.

Vaughan and Lastman...what a pair of clowns. Adam Vaughan pissed away $100K decorating his office. Then he had the audacity to claim it was money well spent to serve and advocate for his constituents. And Mayor Mel...where to begin? Remember when Lastman's wife got arrested for shoplifting and Adam Vaughan (then a CITY-TV reporter) did the story? Lastman threatened to kill Vaughan if he ever reported on his family again.

Mel Lastman was so ridiculous that he inspired the author of Tom the Dancing Bug to create a superhero character out of him, LASTMAN! To be sure, LastMan was a very incompetent buffoon, just like his counterpart in reality.

Considering how long the lefties on council were getting their way for so long, making the exact same types of comments, even stooping to ridiculing people who disagreed with them, it is about time they got a taste of their own medicine. The lefties can sure dish it out but they can never take it, give them a little of their own type of attacks, they cry like babies.

And the best way to fix a problem is always to make it worse!

I'm guessing your an advocate for ringette? C'mon man.

Rob Ford is shrewd.

-J.

And he appeals to geniuses like you - isn't it beer and popcorn time for ya'?

Ford is a dumb clown - Cherry is a mindless cheerleader - it's a match made in asshat heaven. You're getting what you voted for, Toronto.

I'd rather have Ford and Cherry than all of the left-wingers in the country. The leftist mayor Miller fell to the axe this year. Next year, it's Dalton's turn. The wool has been pulled over everyone for far too long. Let the dominoes fall.

Did you read the article? Ford said right after Don Cherry's speech that he did not expect him to go off like he did. Everyone else knew it was a bad idea and were not surprised at all. Even Don Cherry calls out Rob Ford's ignorant reaction at the end of the article!

Who is everyone else?

All of the other people mentioned in the article. And probably the rest of the world.

Really? Based on.... what?

Has anyone ever met a hardcore leftist, politician or otherwise, whe even possesses a sense of humour, or was able to take a bit of a ribbing from someone like Don with out having a politically-correct freakout tantrum in response? I've never encountered a single lefty true-believer who didn't come across as a self-righteous old lemon-sucking sourpuss. Most of these types probably don't even think that Jon Stewart or Bill Maher, who are left wingers themselves, are funny. Expecting them to ever lighten up a bit when dealing with Don is probably an impossibility.

The smart thing would have been to ignore Don altogether. By giving him attention he's just going to do more of what pissed them off just to piss them off even further.

Really? I think hardcore righties are more stuffy and humourless than hardcore lefties. I can't imagine that partying with the Moral Majority types would be a whole lot of fun. Tommy Douglas, for example, had a wicked sense of humour.

I wouldn't categorize Bill Maher as a typical lefty either. Yes, he has some leftist leanings, but, as a libertarian, he's well "right" of conservatives on many issues. Your statement sounds a lot like a case of "The grass is always greener". I'll grant you that lefties tend to be more self-righteous, but I find righties to be, by and large, much more lacking in the 'sense of humour' department. And as for the Ford-Cherry show, it was bad form to invite Cherry to speak on this occassion. He should have saved his comments for the after-party, not the ceremony. There's a time and place for everything.

I'm sorry, how can you talk about a sense of humour? You are half-Scottish and an economist.

The Crown rests!
