Tman1 Tman1: Constantinople Constantinople: Tman1 Tman1: Constantinople Constantinople: Tman1 Tman1: I realize the Christians couldnt retake it at THAT time. Why not in the future? Maybe the Reformation and exploring the other half of the planet and internal disputes made it not top priority.... OH no, the first place of Christian power is not a TOP priority....hmmm You said it. A united Europe could have vanquished the Ottoman Turks. But, due to the issues as stated above, their interest was elsewhere. Well, we can best say that Christian power is not as powerful as we think? The Muslims united to attack, the Christians were disunited and disfunctional. Weak.
Pretty pathetic that "united" Muslims took 800 years to bring down one city- and the only time they were able to was after the Schism, after the Black Death, and during a time of great unrest and division in Europe.

And you think Muslims were sitting around picking their asses? They were just as disunited as anybody but at least they made a coherent force of attack.

Nice back-hand cowardly slap in the face. You failed to make any leeway whatsoever. You resort to false analogies which can only fall on your weakness at the subject. I made a debate, you dodge time and again without making any proof or argumentive thought. YOU can try again if you want. I will always be here. It always falls upon the weak to back away and resort to this. I await your next salient bomb.
You are exactly like BartSimpson, you know your wrong and then you back away and ignore. Typical.
I think I won here. Next.........

At the time Constantinople was sacked, it was hardly in a position to hold off the might of the Ottomans. The Balkans spent most of the next 400 years under the control of the Turks, which was not necessarily a bad thing because it was likely one of the stablest times they ever enjoyed. It was almost two centuries later, outside of Vienna that the Moslem threat to Europe was finally halted. If anything the Turk's capture of Constantinople revived its importance in the world.
