Actually I would like a paragraph of Mr.Constantinoples answers instead of snide one sentence remarks. I admire your historical mind, but your one train track mind doesn't seem to make any head way on your brain capacity. Mr. Constantinople is wrong so he resorts to " NO, your wrong because your drunk" routine.

Lets reflect shall we. What has this articulate mind provided in this discussion after his mandated
$1:
Huh?
I for one would like to know what his wisdom has provided.

$1:
Whatever's affecting your brain right now, I hope it's nothing serious.

BINGO, right when he knows hes wrong, he goes to this cowardly tactic of denial.

Buddy, you want an intellegent discussion? You have to provide your own way because nobody else will.

Constantinople Constantinople:
I'd say the Romans did the most seeing as though they made all the land walls, sea walls, the Hagia Sophia, etc.

Uhh right. :?

They did. Without those walls it ain't a bastion.

Your right, however can you convey that in a simple English sentence?

As you can see, "Huh" was in response to this last question of yours. And then you go on to say:

Tman1 Tman1:
$1:
I'd say the Romans did the most seeing as though they made all the land walls, sea walls, the Hagia Sophia, etc.

This, maybe in English people can better respond. Or, you can dodge my other salient question before this and continue on....

Any dumbass can see that what I wrote is proper English. How about you put a comma after "most" if you're having trouble with it. Moron.

Tman1 Tman1:
$1:
Ok Ok, I see your point. Walls can be breached and why did the Christians not retake it?

Or do you not know how to answser questions and just reside with resounding HUH?

Then you go on to be a dumbass and think I said "Huh" to that question, which I did answer later- as in like 2 minutes after you asked it.

Constantinople Constantinople:
Didn't we cover all this a few posts back? Europe was tied up. Constantinople did its job. Europe lived. God blessed Constantinople.

The huh was to you second-guessing the "English-ness" of that one post.

P.S. The only one who's knowledge on this matter blows, is yours.

Maybe we can have a debate when you're not as intoxicated. Have a nice hangover.

Nice back-hand cowardly slap in the face. You failed to make any leeway whatsoever. You resort to false analogies which can only fall on your weakness at the subject. I made a debate, you dodge time and again without making any proof or argumentive thought. YOU can try again if you want. I will always be here. It always falls upon the weak to back away and resort to this. I await your next salient bomb.

You are exactly like BartSimpson, you know your wrong and then you back away and ignore. Typical.

I think I won here. Next.........

Got issues against Conservative Americans?

Anyway, the only thing you won is the "moron award" for throwing a hissy-fit over a simple sentence that you were unable to comprehend.

Got issues againts Liberals?

Well, I think that both of your arguments have some merit. Constantinople was a bastion of Christian power, probably the most powerful Christian city ever. It faced the Ottoman Empire's unbridelded fury and ultimatly it lost, but it survived for centuries againts a Muslim onslaught. And yes it did save Westertn civilization from the Muslim horde (Maybe, if the Muslims had won here, think there would be so much unrest throughout the world like there is now?) and that is comendable. The arguement is not that the city was imporant, far from it, it was DAMN important and I don't think that anyone can deny that. The point here is that Constantinople sounds so pussy in comparison to Byzantium or even Istanbul.

Sorry, thought someone would have to be drunk to not understand this simple, English sentence after repeatedly being coached on how to read it:

Constantinople Constantinople:
I'd say the Romans did the most seeing as though they made all the land walls, sea walls, the Hagia Sophia, etc.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
The Muslims laid siege to the city and launched the world's first biological war when they hurtled the bodies of plague victims into the city to infect the residents with plague when the bloated bodies burst on impact. Nice.

Good point. It also didn't help that the Muslims hired mercenaries from Italy armed with some of the first huge seige cannons that ground the walls down to dust either.

I like Constantinople better but it's Istanbul now. Get over it. Or are we going to split Buda and Pest back into two separate cities again? Or start calling Toronto by its previous name (York) again too?

Cannons of the era weren't very effective. They made a lot of noise and hurt moral at first, but the projectiles just shattered harmlessly on the gigantic stones. The exploading cannons killed more of their own than the enemy lol.

The name Byzantium/Byzantion is my favourite. Constantinople was cool too. But it IS Istanbul now. The same York is now Toronto, and Bytowne is now Ottawa. Stuff changes. For better or for worse, it changes. You can't stop that.

And they also blew holes in the Theodosian walls in thr Lycus valley- thus the reason they finally beat Giovanni Giustiniani's defenses.

Just curious- do you know anything about history?

Not extensivly, I'm learning. My main focus atm is WWI-II and pre-Augustus Rome. Not to mention that all my imformation of History is taken from third-party internet sites or from flawed text books still referting to Columbus as the first European to land in North America.

I'd recommend buying some published books- I could give you a link to wikipedia, but that's helping no one.
